Interview with KRV666 /Asmi98

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The remix to the song RIDE 4 ME by the rapper episteme, since it was something he created in only approximately 4 hours, and when I finished listening to the final result I felt proud of everything that had evolved musically so far, and especially the reaction of the artist and my close friends when listening to the finished song, which was crazy.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: In an ep for my project as "krv666", I am trying to create a concept and a style that fuses all the slang, style and culture of an area where I live that we call "La Gran Caracas", which is part of the capital area of Venezuela. It is a fusion of my urban culture, electronic music and typical sounds of my country.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not for now, I hope to meet someone soon

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Loved, both can live if one from the other, but when both are used and make one, it is perfect.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: An original and beautiful result

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The final result of my projects, it doesn't matter if no one hears it, or if it's only for me. It's the feeling I get from the fact that I've just created art, in my own way, but it's still art. It is a very beautiful feeling.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: That if I can do a job literally equal to x artist, and the answer is a resounding NO, because basically it would be plagiarism, and I'm not here for that.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Not listening to the client, because you are there to materialize the idea or concept that the client wants, you can suggest changes, things that in your experience would be the best, but if the client is closed and wants it to remain blue and not pink, because you consider that pink does not work, leave it blue, it is what the client wants.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What sound are they looking for exactly, their references, and all this, so that I can get in my head and imagine what exactly they are looking for.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: That I totally trusted him, because if you don't trust him completely, it's better not to work with someone you don't trust enough. I believe that trust is the most important thing, in any area of life.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: my laptop, headphones, solar panels so I can have energy so that my computer doesn't die after two hours due to battery, a midi keyboard, and a camera to document absolutely everything.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: uff, I have been making music since I was 9 or 10 years old, simply for fun, but when I discovered Skrillex there in 2011/2012, my life changed completely and I knew that this path was for me, so I would say that I have been professionally in music for approximately 12 or 13 years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would say dual, I feel that it is handled in a calm and at the same time wild duality, like a black cat, you don't know if it is going to be tender and sweet with you, or simply going to scratch you, because many times I do sweet, romantic work, or however you want to see it, and sometimes I get something out of you that is all distorted or experimental, you know?

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: My dream has always been to collaborate with Skrillex and Getter, because for me they are the pinnacle, and they have been my role model for many years.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Take 15 minute breaks while you work, relax, let your ears rest, and go back to work, this way you avoid saturation and the next day when you listen to your mix it won't be a pile of poop

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Electronic music, more on the house, trap and bass side

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I would say that my strongest ability is my hyper focus, since I am autistic and it does not allow me to finish something until I consider it to be perfect, but in terms of technique I would say the Groove on my basses and the percussions that I usually do.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: My energy, my sound, my desire and the hunger I have to succeed in this world and make a living from music

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Simple, I open my fl studio, and I try out sounds or rhythms, until at some point inspiration hits me and I create something new, normally I only stop there when I've done at least something or I'm overwhelmed.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Well, actually the configuration that I have in my setup is very basic, the truth is that it is only configured with a basic condenser microphone from a generic brand, an m audio interface, the m-track solo, my pc and a ddj flx4

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I have been inspired by people like Quincy Jones, Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, kanye west, dr dre, skrillex and getter

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Normally they always ask me to make some urban music, like reggaeton, trap, and boombap and sometimes something that has to do with electronic music.
