Like a good doctor, the Prophitt listens, and he has the tools and talent to get you what you need. Not surprised he was named the best engineer/producer in Chicago.

Interview with The Prophitt

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm really proud of my work on Pote Baby by Devin. We worked on it for a little less than a year and really made sure every song was exactly the way he wanted it to sound. It was really exciting because he trusted me with this really personal debut and I got to do everything from record, compose, mix, master, even sing. I had so much fun making it which is part of why I'm especially proud of that body of work.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Digitakt 2, any small DJ mixer, SP404 MK 2, AIAIAI Unit-4, and headphones

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I started DJing when I was 8 after I saw the Daft Punk "2007 Alive" performance. I was a wedding and Corporate events DJ by age 12 and I wanted to make my own Dj Edits of songs so I downloaded Ableton. After that, I was basically addicted to making music on my computer with my friends. My music theory background comes from choir. I've been singing in either school or church choir for as long as I can remember.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Hip Hop or RnB. But I love music and am always willing to work on anything.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Beat production, mixing, and vocal mixing/editing.
