Genre-blending artist. LA-based. Words, beats, vision. Bridging poetry, tech & spirit. 🎙️
Joshua is a Los Angeles-based artist and performer known for blending poetry, hip-hop, classical training, and immersive live production into a genre-defying experience. With deep roots in jazz, contemporary music, and digital production (Ableton, Logic), his work bridges raw emotion and technical precision. Inspired by hyperrealist art and ancient civilizations, Josh approaches music like architecture—layered, intentional, and designed to last. He creates atmospheres that are deeply personal, spiritually grounded, and sonically ahead of the curve. Bold, detailed, and unforgettable, Joshua is a vibrant force in a creative landscape that’s long overdue for disruption. His offered services are: Songwriter: both lyrics and music, Rapper, Producer, Piano, and Keyboard Synths. He's gained experience having lended his writing and production services to AUGUST 08, DUCKWRTH, Channel Tres, Jackson Wang, Smino, Lawrence Insula, and others.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm incredibly proud of anything completed. Why? Because it is a realized example of your intention. There's a litany of right choices that needed to be made so that thing could exist. Celebrate them all.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: An Extended Play (EP), and a Christmas Album!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't know anyone on SoundBetter yet!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: My career has been exclusively digital. I will say this tho: Analog's final product > Digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to be intentional and always have their expectations in view.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I am giving the gifts that were given to me!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Turn around time and costs are the biggest questions. Both are contingent on the size of the project. I get as much insight on what to anticipate in regards to input and calculate a rate based on that. As a business, I'm trying to settle on general pricing because I do believe that's best business practice, but all jobs are not created equally.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't know. Whatever it is, I hope that whomever carries it decides to chat. Maybe that'll change their view!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do they want out of the service they're looking for and do they see/feel me achieving that. My work is very visible on the internet and I love to converse. Research and move with intention.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Chat with prospects and see if the energy aligns. That's more valuable than skill most times.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook with all necessary software, External HD, Midi Controller, Mic, Interface (all necessary cabling included).
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Career path has been artist, to writer, to producer, to engineer, and everything in between. I've been in it for 15+
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intentional.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Stevie Wonder, he inspired the world's favorite artists, including me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Gain stage from the start. Simplicity is key, I watched an interview with Mannie Fresh and he disclosed he believes his genius is being forced to produce on an 8 track recorder. It made his choices intentional, and kept things simple. I practice that often.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop and Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing. Language is my love.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Whatever it needs. I can produce from nothing and leave with a complete song covering all aspects of it: production, writing, recording, preliminary mix/master. I can pick up from whatever point on the timeline my collaborator stops.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If working on production, I choose a feel/genre, choose a key to work in, and build from there. I do this to challenge my creativity and improve efficiency and output. The less time I spend trying to feel for it, the more time I can spend producing it. If working on writing, top line and song structure are first, then lyrics. If the top line is already flushed out, it's straight to lyrics.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Warm Audio WA8000 for the condenser mic, Shure SM7B, Superlux D421, Yamaha HS5's, Focusrite Scarlett interface, Komplete Kontrol S88, Komplete Kontrol A49, Ableton, & Logic.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by people that show care and attention to the craft. Bruce Swedien, Derek "MixedByAli" Ali, Dave Pensado, The incomparable STEVIE WONDER, Michael Jackson, and so on.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I engage is writing, production, and references. I offer other services and am fully capable of delivering on whatever your needs may be.
