I’m Chris Oakleaf , founder of Digital Nature, and a professional audio engineer with experience dating back to 2019. I specialize in mixing and mastering hip hop, R&B, emo, indie, and alternative music, working with artists at every stage of their career.
I engineer primarily in Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and Ableton, but I regularly work with sessions from FL Studio, BandLab, GarageBand, and other DAWs. I’ve served as a lead and executive engineer for a multi-engineer recording studio and have freelanced across multiple studios in the Kansas City area, adapting to different workflows and creative styles.
I focus on clean, modern mixes that translate across streaming platforms while preserving the emotion and identity of the artist. I’m currently pursuing a degree in audio engineering and bring a strong creative background in photography and video production, giving me a well-rounded approach to music and media.
Clear communication, efficient turnaround, and attention to detail are priorities in every project. If you’re looking for an engineer who takes your sound seriously and helps you level up, let’s work.

Interview with Digital Nature
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe my strongest skill set is the ability to recognize someones vision and be able to bring that to life.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run a pretty simple set up at home, but often work in studios in the kansas city, and wichita area. I believe this kind of workflow keeps my on my feet and allows me to adjust to any environment as needed.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am routinely inspired by engineers like MixedbyAli, Alex Tumay, and GreazyWil for their creative decisions while crafting incredible sonics.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am most often producing songs from the ground up with artists in a session. From creating a melody to forming a full instrumental, to cowriting, recording, mixing and mastering the song.
