I've been producing music for more than 13 years, I'm a studio owner working with Ableton Live, outboard equipment & live instruments & real artists.
Together we can turn your demos or ideas into beautiful sonic worlds, release ready. Whether it's listening music of all genres or dancefloor grooves.

How Can I Help You?

LIVE INSTRUMENTS:
If you're producing your own music but lack certain instruments, I can help you with top quality studio recordings including: Drums, acoustic & electric guitars, synths, bass guitar, cellos, flutes, great variety of percussion, piano, real female or male vocals, strings, wind instruments and more.

MIXING:
I do my best to combine the art and science of the mixing craft. It is as important to operate the gear as to ask - what style am I going for? What would serve the song in the best way possible. Mixing is a delicate work of curation and critical listening, which in the end yields a piece of music that brings out the intended emotion with the listener.

HYBRID
I am a niche lover and I like the hybrid analog-digital approach, I use preamps, tape and other gear for saturation and roundness, and digital sorcery for creativity, interesting arrangements and powerful solutions or corrections.

MY WORK PROCESS:
Working together is an ongoing dialogue and I keep my clients updated and in the loop for best results and satisfaction.

Interview with Roman Galperin

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I produced an album for a folk singer. It was great to go on such a journey, where we pushed the limits of the music, recorded every possible instrument and had amazing references in mind such as Radiohead and Jim James

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A rock project which reminds me of the Blue and The Strokes

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Hybrid, because you can't beat Ableton and you can't beat reel to reel tape.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: You'll get heard & seen by me. Your idea, desire, your intention is important to me.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I like listening to music I love on my monitors and in other places in my house. I build my own studios using the scientific method and reaching for a vibe and style I enjoy. So it always sounds awesome and feels cozy.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: That electronic music isn't played. You gotta play the synth or the drum machine. This is where the human element stems from. The touch, groove, micro-rhythms. The music is in it. And you know where else it resides? In the idea, the picture you're painting with electricity and binary bits. The emotional concept is key. That's why AI can't make music. It can make simulations.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: I would say - be clear about your requests and open-minded to experiment, because great things come from synergy. We are equals in our

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: A generator and some gasoline for starters. Electric Guitar Mixer 2 Mics - that counts as 1 right :) ? Headphones Laptop with my DAW

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I've been toying with music production since I was 20. I used to play guitar as a teenager and always sought for interesting sound. I studied music production, composition and sound engineering for 3 years in an awesome college, graduated with honors from the post-production course. I've created different duos or groups, early on in music school and always was trying out different styles and genres. I then starting my own studio back in 2017, then in 2019 started teaching music production and expanded to more courses. Throughout this time I formed Biota, and other projects, also produced and recorded many singers and many types of musicians from drummers to kamancheh players.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: My entire variety of styles in one word?

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: Different task, different process. Listening deeply and attentively would be common to all of the them.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: Mostly I record singer-song writer or bands. I mix their records as well. The production process is more of an artistic guidance. I try to call up as much of the original intention from the artist as possible and make the thing at thing - its best version. I also teach music production as a part of my love for sound and education.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I would like to work with Erykah Badu. She is basically many worlds combined - beautiful vocal crafstwomanship, amazing style, blending hip hop, soul and folk. And, maybe most importantly, her music conveys significant messages.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Yes, if you are recording anything, be it vocals or instruments, try to get your sources sounding as good as possible. This will help tie everything together, set a higher bar for the mix that can result from the song. But with that said, the performance itself is as important as the sound.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Many types, from rock'n'roll, folk, indie, hip hop, trip hop, jazz to house and techno.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Seeing the potential. Getting there.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Vibe, precision, artistic integrity.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: My setup is a hybrid setup - I use Ableton Live as my main DAW, I got a push 2 for generating and consolidating ideas quickly, a faderport digital mixer for precision work, outboard gear like an SPL preamp and a Revox reel to reel tape machine. I use a professional monitor controller to check mixes vs the master file and audition through various outputs. I got analog synths and a mackie mixer. I got a drum kit, guitars, amps and bass in my live room.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: Inspired by musicians and sound professionals who follow their passion, their heart, soul quest for the essence. Rick Rubin, Bob Katz, Eddie Kramer, Jim Morrison, Tribe Called Quest, Beck.
