Producer & mix engineer helping indie artists create authentic, placement-ready music — with credits alongside Mack Imagine, Collier Doak , and Micah Wilson.
Hi, I’m shoolace — a producer, songwriter, and mix engineer based in Los Angeles. I help artists create authentic, high-quality music that feels true to who they are, whether that’s through full production, mixing, or songwriting support. My work has spanned from indie “homemade” projects to collaborations with Mack Imagine, 3lijah, and even working with Scott Frankfurt on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" 50th Anniversary addition, giving me both the technical precision and creative edge to bring songs to life. What sets me apart is my heart for connection — I don’t just polish tracks, I partner with artists to rediscover the joy and freedom that made them fall in love with music in the first place. Whether you need a placement-ready production or a mix that truly connects, I’d love to help you create music that inspires and lasts.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with shoolace
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Secret album with secret artist hehe. JK. But one of my really good friends and I are working on his first ever project and I'm SO stoked for people to hear what a talent this man is..... Fo real!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Austin Leeds. He was the first person I reached out to on here back in 2018 and I still remember his name, because of his quality of work (Got me to my first million streams too!)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: My Father-in-law is convinced that AI music will take over my job hahaha
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: DO NOT SACRIFICE QUALITY!! I mean it. Nowadays, the average listener can tell. Find the things in music that you value, and find people who share similar interests in those values. (Yes, even random freelancers) I promise you the quality of work will skyrocket.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: (I have to assume this desert island has wall outlets, or else my answer would be way more lame haha) 1. Macbook Pro 2. Apollo Solo 3. Audio Technica Headphones 4. SM7b 5. Acoustic Guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as an artist myself. So trust me I get it! After a while I decided to go back to the roots of why I do what I do, which is the creation process. Coming on 5 years professionally :0
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I’d describe my style as warm and honest, with an indie edge that highlights vulnerability and connection.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I like to think I'm a great cheerleader. It's natural for me to step out of the way and make sure you shine :)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring authenticity and clarity — making sure the production serves the heart of the song and connects deeply with your listeners.
