fun/singable melodies, strong song concepts, memorable lyrics
I'm Brandon and I would love to work with you!
I'm a pop, R&B, and K-pop songwriter. I specialize in fun, singable melodies, strong song concepts, memorable lyrics, and telling stories from varied perspectives. I also compose and arrange background vocals and rap. I can help you build out your song idea into something complete or write a song for you from scratch.
I consider myself a student of a range of pop and R&B hitmakers including Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, Amy Allen, Sean Garrett, and Ne-Yo.
Here's what I offer:
- topline writing for full songs (melody and lyrics)
- standalone hooks
- vocal arrangements (lead, harmonies, and backgrounds)
- workshopping your ideas with you.

Interview with B. Ellington
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: .
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Depends on the project. But most importantly, I want to know what your voice is and what feels like you.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give your song the same attention I give my own.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you're not sure what you want, we can figure it out together.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing songs for 10 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My favorite songs to write blend the fun and energy of pop music with the expressive vocals of R&B. I love a fun, singable melody with interesting, memorable, lyrics.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Olivia Rodrigo. I love how vulnerable, honest, and clever she is.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get to the vocal and grab the listeners attention quickly.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: pop, R&B, and K-pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: melody, lyrics, and vocal arrangements
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: An incredibly strong grasp on song structure, an ear for fun, singable melodies, and a pen for hookiness.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Start with a call 30-minute call with the client to talk about song direction (theme, lyrical style, vocal arrangements), any early ideas they have. When it comes to songwriting, I start with a strong song concept and write to the hook, building the other parts of the song around it. I play with melodies that feel like they fit the idea the artist wants to communicate.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio with a RØDE NT-USB+ microphone, Akai MPK Mini MK3-25 midi keyboard, and MacBook Air. I use Logic for my DAW.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My most direct songwriting influences are pop writers like Max Martin, Amy Allen, and Ryan Tedder and 2000s R&B hitmakers like Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, and Sean Garrett. My influences on vocal arrangements include Beyonce/Destiny's Child, Brandy, Usher, and Mariah Carey. My all-time favorite artists are Stevie Wonder and Beyonce.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: toplining full songs or hooks
