I specialise in Jazz but play a variety of genres and have a reputation as a sensitive, and musical drummer. I've played all over the world, from residencies in Asia, to Umbria Jazz festival, the Roundhouse in London and many more places in between.
Hi, I'm Jay. I'm offering high-end, artistically sensitive drums for your songs. I have 18 years professional experience as a live drummer and recording artist. I'm a versatile freelance musician and have love for all genres. My Jazz training means that my technical ability is of the highest calibre. Interview with Jay Davis
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing drums since I was six years old, and professionally gigging and recording for 16 years. I trained in jazz performance and composition at Leeds Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since graduating I've been based in London and have been busy performing and recording all over the world.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I put the music first and always strive to find a beat or feel that will compliment the song without getting in the way. I have in the past also been asked to come up with unusual grooves that will surprise the artist. I have a lot of experience in this area and always relish the opportunity to bring something unexpected to a song.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do a wide range of work for clients including adding drum tracks to music for Podcasts, installations, and instrumental compositions, as well as tracking drums for artists' songs.
