I'm a session guitarist, producer, & engineer. I've co-written and produced tracks for Fatboy Slim, Ellie Goulding and Red Bull amongst many others. With 20+ years working professionally in music, my aim is to serve your song first and foremost, and do all I can to develop it creatively to be the best it can be
I love music, collaboration, and working with artists from all backgrounds to help bring their creative visions to life. I’ve just built a dedicated, professionally designed, and acoustically treated studio space for pro-level tracking, mixing, and mastering. Now, I’m excited to offer my services on SoundBetter to help develop artists and elevate their projects.
My journey in music started as a session guitarist, landing my first pro session at 15. Now with 28 years of experience, I can play pretty much any style (acoustic and electric) at a high level, offering creative session guitar services that suit a wide range of genres. Alongside this, I use my guitar skills to help craft original song structures, chord progressions, and melodies.
At 19, I interned at the renowned Sarm West Studios, which deepened my passion for production. Since then, I’ve worked on remixes for Skunk Anansie, co-written and produced for Ellie Goulding, and recorded many UK artists. My versatile skillset has led to numerous sync placements and I’ve honed my ears to become a well-rounded producer.
On SoundBetter, I focus on session guitar, song development, and full track production. I also offer mixing and mastering services in electronic, pop, and rock genres. Drawing from a wide range of influences, I strive to create fresh, emotive tracks that bring out the best in your ideas.

Superb experience in every aspect. Rob's generosity of spirit and enthusiasm for my project was greatly appreciated. With the briefest of guidelines mentioning a sound that had inspired me but open to interpretation and creativity, he delivered something amazing. Multiple parts over and above my expectations. Quality of technique both playing and recording, interpretation and expression was outstanding and best of all, somehow he managed to bring to life the vision that existed only in my mind.

Interview with Rob Blake
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I just wrote, produced and mixed music used in the final 10 minutes of Fatboy Slims opening DJ set at Glastonbury 2024 with Arcadia, which was a crazy thing to be involed in. At the same time have been recording an acoustic album, and doing a stripped back piano track for BMW. Its very very varied, I love all music, and I love to play guitar on everything
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Acoustic guitar. I started on electric and that was my focus for a long time, but in the last 10 years I really developed my acoustic playing with a focus on Gypsy Jazz, Afro Influences, and Folk / country finger picking. That all started because I got really burnt out with studio life, so I packed it up and took my acoustic to the streets with a bunch or loop pedals and batteries. That then led me on a journey playing all around the world, even into Africa, sometimes playing for 8 - 12 hours per day, and the experience and skills i developed doing that can now be put into everything I work on.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, Cheshy - she's a incredible soul singer, and real pro for remote recording
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, its not a binary question
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'm not happy with it till you are.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: We are not always the best judge of what our best song is -but the audience is, so it always helps to develop ideas with people (like myself :) ). An old idea you have had lying around and gotten bored of could become the best thing you've ever created with the right approach and development. I love to hear a range of tracks from artists I work with to really gauge what they want to say musically, and how I can best help bring more creative excitement and closure to the project
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic guitar 3 packs of strings and a pick
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink it, feel it
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Unlimited creative ideas, live instrumentation, and a big picture view of how to best develop and finish songs. On guitar, I really never run out of ideas, so if you need creative guitar tracks - get in touch!
