Sync Licensing Projects

Larry Scorch Ent. on SoundBetter

Sync-focused producer blending street soul and cinematic grit from Dipset-style samples to Afrobeat heartbreak.

Hi, I’m Larry Scorch producer, sound designer, and storyteller based in North Carolina. I specialize in sync licensing projects with a bold, emotional edge. My beats live at the intersection of cinema and the streets, dark trap textures, chopped vocal samples, nostalgic alt-rock, Afrobeat atmospheres, and emotionally charged melodies that feel made for film, TV, or games.

I work across genres but always anchor the sound in raw feeling and clarity, ready for placement with zero clearance headaches. If you need something that grabs ears in the first 15 seconds and lingers after the screen goes dark, I’m the collaborator you're looking for.

🎧 Recent focus: Custom cues, instrumental beds, and hybrid tracks tailored for sync.
📂 Catalog: 100% original, ready-to-clear.
💡 Ideal for: Trailers, docuseries, sports features, film scenes, and emotional storytelling.
📍 Based in NC. Working globally.

Interview with Larry Scorch Ent.

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I had a small town hood anthem played on regular rotation back in 2007-2008 if I remember correctly. I produced it used a very small vocal from an early meek mill freestyle when e still had the nappy braids OG Meek.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently building a catalog for sync licensing focused on emotionally rich beats, cinematic samples, and genre-blending styles. Also working on a few custom tracks for TikTok campaigns and a mini-EP designed for placements in indie film and true crime docs.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not personally connected with anyone on the platform yet but I’m always open to collaboration if the vibe is real and the work is sharp.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because flexibility is everything. I can create, tweak, blend, and export from anywhere. That being said, I love the warmth of analog and I try to emulate that in my mix when it fits.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: No recycled vibes. You’ll get music that’s tailor-made to fit your story, brand, or message. I’ll treat your vision like it’s my own because real respect shows up in the sound.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Turning emotion into sound. I love capturing a moment heartbreak, pride, energy, loss and turning it into something people can feel without needing a single lyric.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: “Can you make this sound like [insert any major artist]?” My answer: I can get you in that world, but I’d rather help you stand out in it. Influence is cool, but originality sells especially in sync and brand placements.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That beat making is just dragging loops and pressing export. Nah, real production is storytelling knowing when to pull back and when to go full throttle. AI can help, but the human element still drives the soul of it.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What emotion are you trying to evoke? Is this for sync or personal release? Who do you want this track to sit next to (artist-wise)? What’s the end goal Spotify? Film? Branding? Do you want to challenge your sound or stay in the lane?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Know your vibe, not just your genre. If you want cookie-cutter, go elsewhere. But if you're looking for something emotionally rich, bold, and sync-worthy, I’m your guy. Just be real about what you're aiming to feel not just sound like.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. FL Studio with all my plug-ins 2. A laptop with long battery life 3. Quality headphones (like Audio-Technica or Beyerdynamic) 4. A field recorder (for natural textures) 5. A solar charger because I’m not about to die beatless

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Started as a music lover and student of sound self-taught, no formal training, just reps. I’ve been building beats and experimenting since the early 2000s, but I’ve taken it seriously as a career path the past few years. Now I focus heavily on sync licensing and tailored productions.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Emotionally textured. It’s gritty but polished. I blend high-impact drums with melodic samples, atmospheric soundbeds, and cinematic transitions. Think Dipset energy meets a movie score then throw in a plot twist.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with someone like Pusha T or Vic Mensa artists who bring depth and grit with intelligent lyricism. Their tone fits the kind of cinematic, layered beats I make. I like artists who aren’t afraid of a darker or emotional atmosphere.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Start with a story or feeling, not a drum loop. When your beat has a purpose behind it, everything else from sample choice to swing falls into place naturally. Don’t just build a track… build a moment.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Hip-hop (classic to experimental), rock-influenced beats, moody R&B, and cinematic instrumentals. I’ve also been diving into genres like Afrobeats, Baltimore/Philly/Jersey club, and pop-punk lately to stretch my sound.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Vision. I know how to tap into a moment whether that’s crafting a beat from scratch, flipping a sound, or syncing with a theme. I’m also great at blending genres in a way that sounds intentional, not forced.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Perspective. My beats aren’t just loops they’re chapters. I bring energy, emotion, and story through sound, often with textures that stand out but never distract. Whether it’s a haunting pad, chopped vocal, or hard-hitting sample, it’s meant to leave an impression.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I usually start with the vibe first — a phrase, a sonic concept, or even a film scene in my head. From there, I build drums and melody around emotion. Once the skeleton’s laid, I tweak the arrangement to sync or artist format and fine-tune the mix for impact. Every project is different, but I always lead with feel over formula.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I run a mobile and hybrid home setup — FL Studio-based with a tight set of plugins, reference headphones, and AI tools for sketching ideas fast (Suno, RipX, and a few custom tools). Everything is streamlined to move from concept to delivery fast, especially for sync turnarounds and independent artists.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Producers like Jahlil Beats, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, and Timbaland for their ear for detail and aggressive creativity. Also influenced by genre-benders like Trent Reznor, Kanye West (early era), and newer hybrid artists like Hanumankind and JPEGMAFIA. I study them all like game film.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I produce custom instrumentals and sync-ready compositions across genres like hip-hop, trap, rock, and experimental soul. My specialty is creating tracks that hit emotionally, whether it's for licensing, storytelling, or pure vibes. Most clients come to me for something that blends raw energy with cinematic atmosphere.
