Funky, dreamy hip hop beats

Neon Café Music on SoundBetter

Original hip hop production with funk flavor and cinematic depth - produced & mixed by me.

I'm a music producer working in Cubase Pro, crafting hip hop instrumentals that range from funky & gangsta to dreamy, laid-back, or uplifting.

I produce, arrange, mix and master all my tracks myself. Whether you're looking for something smooth and soulful or gritty and punchy, I aim to deliver beats that bring out the best in your vocals.

Interview with Neon Café Music

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: I use a mostly digital setup because it offers flexibility, convenience, and access to a wide range of sounds and plugins, especially in Cubase Pro. Digital tools let me work fast and experiment freely without limits. That said, I love the warmth and character that analog gear brings, so I try to emulate that vibe using analog-modeled plugins and synths like Analog Lab V to get the best of both worlds.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: My promise is to deliver professional, original hip hop instrumentals that fit your vision and vibe perfectly. I commit to clear communication, timely delivery, and making sure the final product inspires your best performance. Your satisfaction and creative freedom are my top priorities.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: What I love most about producing is the creative freedom, being able to bring ideas to life from nothing, shaping sounds and moods that inspire others. It’s amazing to make beats that connect with people emotionally and help artists tell their stories. Every track is a new journey, and that keeps me motivated

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: Q: Can I get exclusive rights to the beat? A: Yes, I offer exclusive licenses where you get full rights to the beat and I won’t resell it. Pricing depends on the track and usage. Q: Do you provide stems or just the full track? A: I can provide both full mixes and individual stems if needed, especially for mixing or remixing purposes. Q: How long does it take to get the finished beat? A: Typically, I deliver within 3-5 days depending on the project complexity and revisions.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: A big misconception is that producing beats is just “making loops” or “dragging and dropping samples.” In reality, it’s about crafting a full musical experience, writing melodies, arranging parts, mixing, and shaping a unique sound that supports the artist’s voice and vision. It takes a lot of skill, creativity, and attention to detail to make a beat feel professional and original.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Mainly I ask these two questions: What’s the vibe or mood you’re going for? (Funky, hard-hitting, dreamy, aggressive, chill?) Do you have reference tracks or artists you like? (This helps me understand your style better.)

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Look for someone whose style matches the vibe you want for your music. Listen to their samples carefully to make sure their beats inspire you. Communication is key, be clear about your vision and goals so the producer can bring your ideas to life. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions about their process, revisions, and rights/licenses before you start.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Laptop with Cubase Pro, MIDI keyboard, high-quality headphones, portable audio interface, my ears and my hands!

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I’ve been producing and mixing my own tracks for a few years now, working mostly in hip hop with influences from funk and dreamy styles. I started by experimenting in Cubase Pro and learning through online tutorials and practice. Over time, I’ve built up my skills in arrangement and mixing, Though I haven’t had major features yet, I’m focused on developing my sound and helping artists bring their ideas to life with custom beats.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: My style blends hip hop instrumentals with a mix of funky grooves, gangsta vibes, and dreamy, uplifting atmospheres. I like to create beats that feel both raw and polished, giving space for strong vocals while keeping the energy and character alive. Whether it’s a smooth, soulful track or a hard-hitting, gritty banger, my productions focus on mood, groove, and emotion.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: I’d love to work with a rapper who’s powerful and skilled, like Nicki Minaj or Ice Cube—artists who bring energy, sharp lyrics, and strong presence to their music. Creating beats that match that kind of intensity and help their voice shine would be an exciting challenge and a great way to push my production skills.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: “Trust your ears, not just meters.” Mixing is part science, part art. Always listen carefully and trust what sounds good, not just what looks right on the screen.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: I usually work on hip hop instrumentals, often blending styles like funk, gangsta rap, and chill, dreamy textures. Some tracks lean toward a retro-funk vibe, while others feel more modern, emotional, or cinematic. Whether it’s something gritty with bounce or smooth and uplifting, my focus is always on creating a strong mood and a beat that inspires vocals.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: My strongest skill is building beats that instantly set a vibe — whether it's funky, hard-hitting, or dreamy. I focus on tight arrangements and clean mixing to make sure every track feels ready for vocals or release.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I bring vibe, character, and emotion to a song, whether it’s a funky groove, a dreamy atmosphere, or a hard-hitting hip hop bounce. My beats are designed to leave space for the artist while still carrying energy and identity. I focus on giving each track a distinct mood, with detailed sound selection, clean mixes, and a balance between raw feel and musicality. My goal is to make beats that inspire strong vocals and leave a lasting impression.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: My process starts with building a vibe, usually drums first, then layering chords, basslines, or melodic elements depending on the feel I’m going for: funky, dreamy, or gritty. I work in Cubase Pro, arranging and mixing as I go to keep everything balanced. I use royalty-free samples, synths like Analog Lab, and custom sound design to give each track its own character.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I produce and mix entirely in-the-box using Cubase Pro as my main DAW. My setup is minimal but effective, I work with a range of VST instruments like Analog Lab V and LABS. I use a MIDI keyboard for composition and rely on headphones and studio monitors for accurate mixing. Everything is streamlined for creativity, speed, and clean, professional sound.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: I’m inspired by Dr. Dre for his clean, heavy-hitting mixes and West Coast bounce, J Dilla for his soulful, off-grid grooves, and Kaytranada for blending funk, house, and hip hop in a fresh, rhythmic way. I also admire Metro Boomin and Knxwledge for their unique textures and mood-driven production styles. Their work reminds me that you can make music that’s both hard and emotional, raw but musical.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: I create and mix custom hip hop instrumentals built from scratch in Cubase Pro. My beats often blend funky grooves, gangsta energy, or dreamy vibes, depending on the artist’s style. I handle the full production process, from arrangement and sound design to mixing, and finalize with mastering using BandLab. Artists usually come to me for original, vocal-ready tracks that fit their unique sound.
