Interview with BlukiBeats
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm incredibly proud of an album I completed in just two months titled 'Tormenta' (Storm). This album delves into the theme of grief in human beings, and I poured so much love and dedication into every aspect of it that I truly consider it a work of art in every sense. My role was comprehensive: I was solely responsible for the entire creation of the album, from conception to final production, which makes me exceptionally proud of what I achieved.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently, I'm deep into a very personal project: I'm working on an EP for myself. It's an exciting opportunity to explore my own creative boundaries and bring some long-held musical ideas to life.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Honestly, I haven't extensively networked with other professionals on SoundBetter yet. So, at this moment, the only person I can wholeheartedly recommend for top-tier service is, of course, myself! I'm fully confident in the quality and dedication I bring to every project.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: In my work, I generally prefer digital for the sheer versatility it offers. The flexibility, recall, and vast array of tools in the digital realm are incredibly powerful for modern production. That said, I still absolutely love working with vocals that were recorded in an analog fashion. The inherent warmth, character, and organic feel of analog-recorded vocals bring a unique richness that complements my digital workflow beautifully.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is that they will be fully satisfied with the final result. Especially when I'm producing a song, I guarantee that they will feel a profound connection and identification with their track. My goal is always to deliver a product that not only meets their expectations but truly resonates with their artistic identity and vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Music is my absolute passion and my life. What I enjoy most about my job is the profound satisfaction of seeing an idea through to completion. It's genuinely an addiction for me to witness a project evolve from its initial concept into a finished, polished piece of art. That feeling of bringing a vision to life is incredibly rewarding.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients most commonly ask me about the specific techniques and processes I employ in my work. My usual playful response is, 'A magician never reveals their secrets!' While I maintain some creative mystique, I always reassure them that my methods are geared towards achieving the best possible outcome for their track, and that I prioritize the final result over detailing every single step.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that it's easy and that anyone can do it. While tools are accessible, I firmly believe that making truly impactful music is a giftβa blend of innate talent and immense, consistent effort. It requires a deep understanding of sound, emotion, and countless hours of dedicated practice and learning to truly master the craft.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start by creating a comfortable atmosphere, often asking about their well-being and mood. Then, we dive into the core of their project: 'What's the central idea, and what do you want to communicate with this music?' I make sure to listen to their musical references for the project to understand their sonic vision. Finally, I always ask them to recommend some music they're currently enjoying, as it gives me insight into their broader tastes and influences.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice to any customer looking to hire a producer is to prioritize the producer's passion and the quality of their own music. Pay close attention to the care and creativity they infuse into their personal projects. A producer who invests genuine love and artistry into their own work is much more likely to bring that same dedication and high standard to your project.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I were on a desert island, my essentials would boil down to just three pieces of gear: my laptop, a versatile microphone, and a reliable pair of headphones. With these, I'd have everything I need to capture ideas, produce, mix, and continue creating music, no matter the circumstances.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career in music production began five years ago, starting modestly by practicing and experimenting in my own room. From those initial steps, I've consistently pursued multiple courses and independent projects to hone my skills. This dedication led to gaining local recognition for my work, even culminating in an appearance on local television to showcase my contributions to the music scene. It's been a journey of continuous learning and growth.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'd describe my style as a blend of 'beautiful and rebellious,' yet universally appealing. I aim to create sounds that are sonically pleasing and emotionally resonant, but also carry a unique edge that challenges conventions. My goal is to produce music that connects with a broad audience while maintaining an authentic and distinctive artistic character.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: From the English-speaking music industry, I would absolutely love to work with Charli XCX. I find her approach to music and her perspective on the current industry truly admirable. She consistently pushes boundaries and innovates, which aligns perfectly with my own creative philosophy. I believe our combined creative energies could lead to something truly groundbreaking.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My top music production tip is that 'less is often more.' Striving for a sound that is natural and unforced will consistently yield more beautiful and organic results. Avoid over-processing; sometimes the simplest approach can be the most effective in bringing out the inherent beauty and emotion of a track.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: While I appreciate a wide range of genres, I primarily work on Latin music and Pop. These are the genres where my expertise and passion truly align, allowing me to consistently deliver high-quality, impactful productions that resonate with audiences.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills are undoubtedly creativity and patience. I approach every project with an imaginative mindset, always seeking innovative ways to enhance a track's unique qualities. This creative drive is balanced by immense patience, allowing me to meticulously refine every detail, troubleshoot challenges, and work collaboratively with clients until we achieve the absolute best possible outcome.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a high level of versatility and creative drive to every song. My contributions can span across various areas, from full-scale production and intricate vocal arrangements to songwriting and composition. I thrive on taking tracks to the next level, infusing them with fresh ideas and polish, ultimately ensuring they achieve their fullest potential and truly stand out.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is highly collaborative, starting with a strong artistic and human connection before diving into the technical details. I always begin by deeply understanding the client's core idea and vision. It's crucial for me to grasp their desired outcome and what they aim to communicate through their music. Once I have a clear understanding of their artistic intent, I then leverage my technical expertise to help them achieve their specific objective, ensuring the final product truly reflects their original concept.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: y studio is built around efficiency and high-quality production. At its core, I use a state-of-the-art laptop powered by a UR22C audio interface. For my Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), I'm proficient in Pro Tools, FL Studio, and Ableton Live, allowing me to adapt to various workflows and client preferences. For critical listening, I rely on professional mixing headphones, ensuring precision and accuracy in every decision I make
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I draw significant inspiration from a diverse group of highly influential artists and producers. Bad Bunny for his innovative approach to mainstream Latin music, Kanye West for his groundbreaking production and fearless artistry, and Timbaland for his iconic drum programming and rhythmic mastery. I'm also deeply inspired by RosalΓa's ability to fuse traditional and modern sounds, and Pharrell Williams for his timeless grooves and distinctive sonic palette. Their collective work constantly pushes the boundaries of music production.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My primary focus revolves around audio editing, beat production, and vocal mixing. These are the most common services clients seek from me. I specialize in crafting high-quality beats that lay a strong foundation for a track, meticulously editing audio to ensure pristine clarity, and expertly blending vocals to sit perfectly within the mix, enhancing the song's overall impact and emotional resonance
