Experienced Engineer working in a pro studio with 40ch vintage SSL 6k. I've toured around the world as a musician and been Emmy nominated as a post-production engineer. Clients range from large broadway productions (Spamalot!, Buena Vista Social Club etc...) to independent singer/songwriters.
I'm Derril Sellers, and audio engineer and studio owner/operator at Cako Studios in eastern PA, USA. At Cako I use Pro Tools through the SSL 6040 desk and an array of available outboard gear. The studio has an 1,800 Sq Ft live room with 20' ceilings for tracking and a collection of vintage amps, instruments, and synthesizers.
Cako also serves as the center of a vibrant music scene with a deep network of session musicians available. I've worked on all popular music genres, though I'm most at home with indie rock, ambient, experimental, and other genres based around acoustic instruments or vintage electronics. I'm probably not your guy for EDM, Trap, or even more extreme metal sub-genres.
I'm a big-picture thinker. I believe music should feel alive and spontaneous. Overly tuned and obsessively edited tracks are lifeless. That said, I don't allow mistakes or poor-performances to sneak through. It's all about finding the balance that delivers the emotion message of the song. If that meshes with your vision, I'd love to be in touch!
