Interview with Sheetalthapliyal

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on was a set of original Hindi songs that I wrote based on real-life emotions — heartbreak, inner healing, and silent battles we all go through. I may not have collaborated with a full production team yet, but I'm proud of this project because it reflects my truth as a writer and has emotionally touched the few people I’ve shared it with. My role was to write lyrics that didn’t just rhyme they had to speak, heal, and feel like someone’s own story. I’m proud of this because it reminded me that even if only one person relates, the words still matter.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m focused on writing emotionally rich Hindi and Hinglish songs that reflect the voice of today’s youth — mostly around love, heartbreak, self-growth, and silent emotions we often don’t say out loud. I’m also exploring collaborations where I can provide lyrics for original compositions, and I’m building my presence as a professional lyricist by joining platforms like SoundBetter to reach artists who truly care about the meaning behind every word.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No, I’m currently new to the SoundBetter platform, so I haven’t collaborated with any specific creators here yet. But I’m always open to connecting with talented composers, producers, and singers who are passionate about creating meaningful music. I look forward to building those creative connections soon!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I work mostly with digital tools because they’re accessible, efficient, and allow me to quickly capture my ideas — whether I’m writing lyrics or recording a rough voice note for reference. As a lyricist, my priority is the words and emotions, and digital platforms make it easy to share, edit, and collaborate. But I also appreciate the warmth and soul of analog sounds and traditional instruments like Manjira, which deeply inspire my writing style. So while my process is digital, my emotions are rooted in something timeless and real.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise authenticity — always. Every lyric I write comes from a place of honesty, emotion, and personal connection. I don’t just write to fill lines; I write to express real feelings and tell meaningful stories that truly reflect your vision. You can trust that I’ll give my full heart and effort to create something original, soulful, and deeply human.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about songwriting is that it allows me to express my own feelings and experiences as a young person. Whenever I go through something emotionally intense whether it's love, confusion, pain, or hope I pour it into my lyrics. Writing makes me feel lighter, understood, and free. And when someone else listens and says, “I feel this too”, it’s like finding a piece of myself in others. It’s more than words — it’s a way to connect hearts, to let someone know they’re not alone. That’s the most powerful thing about what I do.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Most customers ask me: "Can you write lyrics to match a melody or beat I already have?" My answer is: Absolutely. I love working with existing melodies or instrumentals. It helps me understand the flow, rhythm, and mood, and I tailor the lyrics accordingly so that they naturally blend with the music. Whether you're starting with a rough idea or a fully produced track, I can shape lyrics that feel seamless and emotionally strong.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: One of the biggest misconceptions is that writing lyrics is just about rhyming words — but it’s so much more than that. Good songwriting is about capturing raw emotions, telling a story, and creating a connection that the listener can feel deep inside. It takes time, reflection, and heart to craft lyrics that truly match the melody and mood of a song. It’s not just writing — it’s emotional storytelling.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask: – What is the emotion or message you want the song to convey? – Do you have a melody, beat, or reference track in mind? – Is there a specific structure or style you're looking for (e.g., Bollywood, indie, romantic, sad, etc.)? – Who is your target audience for this song? – Do you prefer Hindi, Hinglish, or poetic Urdu touch in the lyrics?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I always recommend clients start by defining their vision clearly share the mood, theme, and any reference tracks or example lyrics that inspire you. Open, honest communication is key: let me know what resonates (and what doesn’t) early in the process so we can refine together. Be ready to provide timely feedback, trust the creative journey, and respect originality great lyrics take collaboration, patience, and a shared passion for the story you want to tell.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. Manjira (Mridang) – The soulful rhythm of this instrument connects me to my roots and helps me feel the emotion behind every lyric. 2. Notebook & Pen – To pour out my thoughts, lyrics, and emotions without limits. 3. Voice Recorder – To capture melodies, lines, or even random inspiration whenever it comes. 4. Water – Because to keep the soul and creativity alive, staying hydrated is a must. 5. A peaceful corner of nature (if that counts!) Because my creativity flows best when I’m close to nature, even more than any electronic gear.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been writing lyrics and poetry for years as a personal passion, often inspired by life experiences, emotions, and stories around me. Though I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Pharmacology, songwriting has always been my creative outlet. Now, I’m stepping into the professional space to share my work with artists and producers who are looking for meaningful Hindi lyrics that truly connect. While I may be new to the industry, my writing comes from a place of depth, dedication, and emotional truth.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is emotionally rich, poetic, and relatable. I write from the heart — often focusing on love, heartbreak, self-reflection, and soulful emotions. I use simple yet expressive language that flows naturally with music and connects deeply with listeners. Whether it's romantic or raw, my words aim to tell a story and leave a lasting impact.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with artists like Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, and Jubin Nautiyal because their voices beautifully carry deep emotions — exactly what I aim to express through my lyrics. I also admire lyricists and composers like Amit Trivedi and Jaani, who blend simplicity with soul. Collaborating with such artists would allow my words to reach people’s hearts in the most powerful way.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always let the emotion lead the production. Whether it's instrumentation or arrangement, keep space for the lyrics to breathe and shine — ,especially in romantic or emotional songs. Simplicity often carries more soul than complexity.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on romantic, emotional, soulful, and Bollywood-style Hindi music. My lyrics often suit genres like acoustic, soft pop, indie, and light classical fusion. I also enjoy writing meaningful songs with a personal or storytelling touch that connects deeply with the listener.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is expressing deep emotions through simple, powerful words. I have a natural ability to translate feelings like love, heartbreak, and inner strength into lyrics that feel personal and real. Whether it's romantic or emotional storytelling, I focus on lyrical flow, clarity, and emotional connection that leaves an impact.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring soul, depth, and real emotions to every song I write. My lyrics are designed to connect with the listener’s heart — whether it’s love, pain, hope, or longing. I focus on meaningful words, natural flow, and strong imagery that enhances the mood of the melody. Every line I write adds life and storytelling to the music.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I begin by understanding the mood, theme, and target audience of the song. Whether it's romantic, emotional, or story-driven, I align my writing accordingly. Once I have a clear direction, I draft the lyrics — usually starting with a hook or chorus — and then build verses that maintain flow and feeling. I share a rough draft with the client for feedback and make revisions as needed. I ensure timely delivery and full satisfaction with the final lyrics.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: As a lyricist, my focus is on the words and emotions behind the song. I work in a quiet, dedicated writing space using basic tools — my laptop, notebook, and voice recorder to capture melodies or rhythm when needed. I collaborate remotely and deliver clean, well-formatted lyrics in your preferred style and structure, ready for composition and production.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m deeply inspired by lyricists like Irshad Kamil, Javed Akhtar, and Amitabh Bhattacharya for the way they blend poetry with emotion. I also admire Jaani for his modern romantic style, and Rochak Kohli and Amit Trivedi for creating soulful compositions that perfectly carry meaningful lyrics. Their ability to touch hearts through simple yet powerful words motivates my own writing journey.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I provide original Hindi lyrics that are deeply emotional, romantic, and relatable. My writing captures raw feelings and connects with listeners on a personal level. Whether it's soulful love songs, heartbreak, or meaningful storytelling, I focus on making each line authentic and lyrical. Perfect for indie artists, music producers, and those seeking impactful Hindi songwriting.
