ROCHESTER

sync-friendly, high-energy rap

ROCHESTER on SoundBetter

I specialize in creating memorable music that connects—sync-ready bangers, heartfelt records, and verses that cut through the noise. I’ve worked with Grammy winners, indie stars, and synced music for Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse, Fortnite, and the NFL. I keep it clean, clever, and versatile.

I’m a professional songwriter, rapper, and recording artist with over a decade of experience and a catalog that’s landed major sync placements in TV, film, video games, sports, and ads. From the NFL and Netflix to the NBA and Fortnite, my music blends cinematic energy with emotional depth and commercial appeal.

Clients choose me for my versatility, professional quality, and ability to bring ideas to life. I understand the assignment, elevate the vision, and deliver polished vocals that connect with real emotion and commercial power.

I specialize in writing and recording catchy hooks, hard-hitting verses, and full songs across hip-hop, pop, R&B and alternative genres. Whether you need a sync-ready anthem or a dynamic feature verse, I bring clarity, creativity, and quick turnaround to every project.

If you're looking for clean, clever, and compelling music that moves people I wanna work with you.

Interview with ROCHESTER

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I helped create music for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. My group’s sound fit perfectly with the energy of that world. I was the co-writer and performer, and that placement reminded me why I do this.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My group CUT THE LIGHTS is building a comic book series around our music, and I’m also running a live music series called Take Off Tuesdays to showcase my catalog.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: not yet but im new to this platform

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital sounds great and thats what I embrace but nothing will ever beat the warmth of Analog sound

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I’ll treat your song like it’s my own. I won’t just take the job, I’ll invest in the outcome.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Turning thoughts into something you can feel. Watching ideas become songs that move people never gets old

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: “Can you make it sound like [insert artist]?” My answer: Yes—but I’ll always add a twist that makes it feel like you.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That writing a great song is fast and easy. It can be, but there’s a lot of invisible work behind what sounds effortless.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What’s the goal of the song? Who is it for? What vibe are we chasing? Any references? Timeline?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Know your vision or be open to discovering it. The clearer we are upfront, the better the final product.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: my Mac studio, my audio- technica headphones, my iPhone, my Shure SM7B and my apogee

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started as a rapper and songwriter, eventually getting into licensing music for film/TV. That taught me how to write with vision. Now I work across creative roles: artist, writer, performer, consultant.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Cinematic, honest, and high-impact. Think 90s grit meets future energy with intention behind every word and sound.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Childish Gambino. He’s genre-fluid, creative, and unapologetically different. I think we’d build something timeless.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don’t chase perfect, chase feeling. A rough take with heart will always outlast a flawless one with no soul

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Hip-hop, pop, R&B, and sync-driven music for film, TV, and video games. Gimme anything bold, cinematic, emotional, or high energy then I’m in my zone.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Writing hooks that stick. I understand the assignment fast and deliver what the song needs whether that's a catchy chorus, a concept or a tone that fits the emotion.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Emotion, energy, and clarity. I help songs connect through melody, lyrics, cadence, or concept. I bring a unique perspective, a strong sense of structure, and always aim to elevate the record’s purpose.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: We discuss what the client is looking for then I listen to the production and freestyle ideas til I find something we like. Then I'll add the lyrics and go back and forth until we're both satisfied.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Neumann TLM 127, Shure SM7B microphone, Apogee interface and Mac Studio.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: J Cole, Kanye West, Drake, Jay-Z

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
