Interview with Bossa Sulfuric
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of was helping an independent artist from the UK create a standout single that mixed melodic trap with Afro-influenced drums. The artist had a beat and a concept, but needed help shaping the full song—hook, verses, and overall structure. My role was full ghostwriting. I crafted the chorus to be catchy but personal, then built the verses to match the artist’s voice and delivery style. I also sent a reference vocal to guide the flow. The artist ended up recording it almost exactly how I demoed it—and the result was perfect. That track went on to become their most streamed release at the time, and we've worked together ever since. That kind of impact is what I aim for every time—helping artists sound like the best version of themselves.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I’m collaborating with a couple of up-and-coming UK rappers to shape EP concepts from scratch—helping them to build a cohesive sound and message.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I’d say digital, mainly for the flexibility, speed, and creative freedom it gives me as a writer and collaborator. With digital tools, I can write, record references, edit, and share drafts in real time, no matter where the artist is.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to treat your music like it’s mine—meaning I put in real effort, detail, and care to make sure the lyrics match your vision. I also promise to communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and stay open to feedback. This isn’t just about words on paper—it’s about helping you create something you’re proud to record, release, and perform. Your success is the mission, and I won’t stop until the song feels right.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Seeing a client's dream come to life
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long does it take?” -Turnaround depends on the project, but usually I deliver a first draft within a day or 2 atmost. Revisions are fast too, and I work around your deadlines. 2. Can I get a reference recording?” Yes—if needed, I can provide a demo vocal to guide your delivery and flow. Even if it’s rough, it gives you a clear blueprint to record confidently. 3. Have you written for anyone I might know?” -Some of my work is under NDA or uncredited by choice, but I’ve worked with both up-and-coming and established artists across genres. My focus is always on helping the artist sound authentic and industry-ready, no matter their platform or following.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that ghostwriters just throw out random rhymes or copy-paste bars—it’s way deeper than that. A good ghostwriter isn’t just writing lyrics, we’re building your voice. It takes skill to study an artist’s delivery, tone, energy, and message, then craft lyrics that sound like they came from you, not me. Another misconception is that using a ghostwriter means you’re not creative. In reality, it’s a collaboration. Some of the best artists in the game work with writers to bring their ideas to life faster and on a higher level. My job is to elevate your vision, not replace it
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1. Do you have a beat already? 2. Whats the over all vibe you're going for? 3. Who are some artists/songs you're inspired by? 4. Do you want just lyrics or do you want a demo to guide your delivery? 5. Are there any specific topics, phrases or messages you want included?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My biggest advice is to know exactly what you want and come into the process with an open mind. Also, don’t be afraid to communicate. Ghostwriting is a creative partnership—we’re building your voice together. Trust matters, so look for a writer who listens, understands your style, and cares about making you sound your best—not just throwing bars on a beat. Lastly, if you get a sample or draft, focus on the feel of the song first. Technical stuff can always be adjusted, but capturing your energy and message is the foundation of a great collaboration.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, solar powered charger, A good book, Headphones, portable wifi
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I double as an accountant and real estate marketing strategist. But I have been ghost writing for close to 8 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is adaptable, but always intentional. I focus on writing lyrics that feel real, rhythmic, and emotionally connected. I understand how to match the artist’s tone and energy, so the words sound like they’re coming from you, not just a writer behind the scenes. I lean into clever wordplay, clean structure, and strong cadence. I bring a mix of authenticity and creativity that keeps the listener engaged
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Kanye West. He’s always pushed the boundaries of sound, style, and storytelling. What I admire most is how he blends raw emotion with innovation—whether it’s soul samples, trap drums, or orchestral arrangements, he knows how to make every word and sound feel intentional. As a writer, I’m drawn to that level of creativity and depth. Working with someone like Kanye would be a chance to bring bold concepts to life, take risks lyrically, and create something that moves culture, not just charts. That’s the kind of space I thrive in—where the writing isn’t just catchy, but meaningful and original.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Simple does it—especially when it comes to vocals and beat arrangement. One solid idea, delivered clearly with space to breathe, often hits harder than overloading a track with too many layers or overcomplicated flows. Whether it’s a hook or a verse, giving the beat room to shine and letting key lines stand out can make the track feel more polished and emotionally impactful.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-hop, trap, boombap, afrofusion, rnb,
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is versatility. I pay close attention to cadence, flow, and rhyme schemes so the lyrics don’t just read well—they sound natural when performed. Plus, I’m strong with hooks and concepts, making sure each song has a clear identity and impact from the first line to the last.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a sharp ear for emotion, structure, and originality. I know how to craft timeless lyrics—lines that stick in the listener's mind, hooks that are catchy but real, and verses that carry weight, storytelling, or energy depending on what the song needs. I focus on making every word count, building songs that feel authentic to the artist while still being commercially strong. I can write to match your voice, personality, and delivery style—whether that’s laid-back, aggressive, introspective, or party-ready. Beyond just words, I bring creative direction. I can help shape the vibe of a track, suggest concepts, structure the song for maximum impact, and even provide flow guides or demo vocals. My goal is to make your song not just sound good—but feel alive, memorable, and ready to perform or release.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process is all about capturing the artist’s voice, style, and vision. I usually start by asking a few key questions about the vibe you're going for whether it's emotional, gritty, flex-heavy, storytelling, or turn-up energy. I also take into account your preferred flow, cadence, and any references you might have, including beats or artists you’re inspired by. Once I have that, I either write to a provided beat or select one that matches the mood if needed. I begin crafting the concept, hook, and verses, keeping the structure tight and performance-ready. I make sure the lyrics hit with the right emotion, punchlines, and authenticity that fits your persona. From there, I send you a draft—usually with notes or a reference vocal/demo for flow guidance. I offer revisions based on your feedback until you’re fully satisfied. It’s a collaborative process, but I aim to make it easy and efficient while delivering industry-level results.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from a home-based studio that’s fully equipped for high-quality vocal and production work. My setup includes a treated recording space with acoustic panels and a condenser mic (Audio-Technica AT2020 / Rode NT1-A) for clean vocal references. I run everything through an audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2) into my DAW of choice, which is FL Studio and sometimes Ableton for special projects. I also use industry-standard plugins like Waves, FabFilter, and iZotope for mixing and mastering mockups. While I primarily deliver written lyrics and song concepts, I can also provide demo vocals, reference flows, or rough vocal takes with clear quality to guide the artist. The goal is always to give you something ready to record and perform professionally.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Chance the rapper, Lauryn hill
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Ghost writing, mixing, mastering
