Interview with Prestige
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of is working on the Bayanni ‘Ta Ta Ta’ remix featuring Jason Derulo. I was involved in the production process, ensuring the track kept its original Afrobeat groove while giving it a fresh, international feel that matched Jason’s style. Balancing those two worlds the vibrant, rhythmic roots of the song and the polished pop sensibility Jason brings was both challenging and rewarding. The track went viral on TikTok with over 2 million videos created, which was an incredible moment to see our work resonate with so many people worldwide.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I’m producing a mix of projects from Afrobeats and R&B singles for independent artists to a few high-energy Trap and Pop tracks for sync briefs. I’m also wrapping up a couple of Afro House instrumentals aimed at the international club scene. Each project is different, but they all have one thing in common: making sure the final track feels fresh, polished, and ready to connect with listeners.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I’ve come across some incredibly talented people on SoundBetter, and if a project needs something outside my scope like live strings, a specific vocal tone, or specialized mastering I’m happy to connect clients with trusted professionals who can deliver at the same high standard I aim for. Collaboration is one of the best parts of this platform.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their magic. Analog brings that warm, rich character you can feel, while digital gives me the flexibility, speed, and endless creative options to bring ideas to life. I love blending the two warm analog vibes with the precision of digital tools so the final track has the best of both worlds, like old-school soul with a modern twist.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to treat your music like it’s my own giving it the time, care, and creativity it deserves. I’ll keep communication clear, deliver on time, and make sure the final track not only meets but exceeds your expectations. My goal is that you walk away with a song you’re proud of and excited to share… and maybe even want to work on the next one together .
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning ideas into songs people can feel is the best part. That moment when a client hears the final mix and says, ‘This is it!’ unbeatable. Plus, making music never really feels like work… lol.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: One of the most common questions I get is, ‘Can you make my song sound professional and ready for release?’ My answer is always yes that’s my specialty. I handle everything from the creative side (songwriting, beat production, vocal arrangement) to the technical side (mixing and mastering) so the final product sounds polished and industry-ready. Another common one is, ‘Can you work in [latin music]?’ and I love saying yes because I work across Afrobeats, R&B, Hip Hop, Trap, Dancehall, Pop, and even sync tracks for ads and media.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That making a great track is as simple as ‘just adding a beat’ lol. There’s a lot more that goes into it from songwriting and arrangement to sound design, mixing, and mastering each step is intentional and affects how the song connects with listeners. Good production isn’t just about stacking sounds; it’s about telling a story through music and making sure every element works together to create the right emotion.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I like to start by understanding their vision what vibe or emotion they want the song to capture, and any reference tracks they have in mind. I’ll ask about the genre, tempo, and key elements they want in the production, as well as whether they already have lyrics, melodies, or vocals. For vocal projects, I’ll clarify if I’m providing the vocals or working with theirs, and whether stems will be sent for mixing. I also ask about the song’s purpose is it for a commercial release, a sync brief, or personal use so I can tailor the production accordingly. Most importantly, I keep the conversation open so they feel comfortable sharing ideas, even the wild ones lol.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who not only has the technical skills but also understands how to bring your vision to life. Check their portfolio to make sure their style resonates with you, and don’t be afraid to ask questions about their process, communication, and turnaround time. A good provider should make the experience collaborative, fun, and stress-free while delivering a professional, release-ready track you’re proud of. Oh and if they genuinely care about your music as much as you do, that’s a big green flag lol.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Easy my laptop loaded with Logic Pro X, FL Studio, and all my plugins (because even desert islands need bangers lol), my MIDI keyboard for ideas, my headphones for accurate listening, an Apollo Twin interface for pristine sound, and a trusty condenser mic so I can record vocals, instruments… or the occasional seagull for some tropical samples.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started making music out of pure curiosity, experimenting with beats and songwriting in my bedroom before investing in my first proper studio setup. Over the years, I honed my skills in production, mixing, and songwriting across multiple genres from Afrobeats and R&B to Trap, Pop, and Dancehall working with both independent artists and established names. I’ve also produced music for sync briefs, creating tracks for ads and media campaigns. I’ve been producing professionally for several years now, and every project still feels like an opportunity to learn, grow, and bring something fresh to the table.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a fusion of rhythm, melody, and storytelling blending the groove and bounce of Afrobeats and Dancehall with the emotion of R&B, the edge of Hip Hop/Trap, and the global polish of Pop. I love mixing organic elements with modern production to create tracks that feel both fresh and timeless. Whether it’s for an artist release or a sync brief, I focus on making music that moves people, sticks in their heads, and feels authentic to their vision.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: "I’d love to work with Drake his versatility across genres and ability to connect with listeners worldwide is inspiring, and I feel my production style could bring a fresh twist to his sound. I’m also drawn to artists like Jon Bellion for his storytelling genius, and Sarz for his fearless creativity in pushing sonic boundaries. On the international stage, working with Rihanna or Dua Lipa would be incredible they each bring a unique vibe and energy that would make for an exciting creative journey."
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: "Don’t overcrowd your track give each sound its own space to breathe. Sometimes the magic isn’t in adding more layers, but in taking the right ones out so the key elements shine. Oh, and always save your project with a new name before experimenting… trust me, future-you will thank you lol."
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work across a variety of genres, but my sweet spot is where rhythm and melody meet. I produce Afrobeats, Afro House, Hip Hop, Trap, R&B, Dancehall, and Pop, often blending influences to create something fresh and global. I also work on music for sync briefs, crafting tracks that are catchy, emotional, and ready for ads, TV, and digital campaigns. Whether it’s a feel-good summer anthem, a hard-hitting club track, or a soulful ballad, I’m all about making music that moves people literally and emotionally.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is turning a client’s idea no matter how rough or abstract into a fully realized, release-ready track. I have a knack for blending infectious melodies, tight rhythms, and high-quality production to create songs that stand out. Whether it’s building a beat from scratch, crafting memorable hooks, or mixing and mastering for maximum impact, I know how to bring out the best in a song while keeping its unique character intact… even if the starting point is you humming into your phone at 2 a.m. lol.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a blend of fresh creativity, technical precision, and a deep understanding of what makes a song connect with listeners. Whether it’s crafting a catchy hook, building a groove that moves people, or adding subtle production details that make the track pop, I focus on elevating the music’s emotion and energy. My multi-genre background from Afrobeats and R&B to Trap, Dancehall, and Pop lets me fuse styles in unique ways, while my experience with sync briefs ensures the track is polished and commercially ready. Most importantly, I bring a collaborative spirit, so every project feels personal, inspired, and built to last.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to keep the process creative, collaborative, and a little bit fun. We’ll kick things off by chatting about your vision, influences, and the vibe you’re going for I want to know everything from your favorite artists to the mood you imagine when the track plays. Then I’ll cook up the first draft, whether it’s a beat, a full instrumental, or a topline melody, and send it your way. We’ll bounce ideas back and forth, layering sounds, tweaking arrangements, and making sure the track hits just right. Once we’re vibing with the final arrangement, I’ll mix and master it so it’s ready for release or sync. I keep communication open the whole way so you feel part of the magic, not just the end result.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is a fully equipped creative space built for professional, release-ready production. I work in Logic Pro X, FL Studio, and Ableton Live, paired with industry-standard plugins like Waves, FabFilter, Soundtoys, and UAD for pristine mixing and mastering. I use an Apollo Twin interface with high-quality condenser and dynamic microphones for crystal-clear recordings, monitored through Yamaha HS8 and Audio-Technica headphones for accurate sound referencing. The space is acoustically treated, ensuring every mix translates perfectly, and I have a growing library of virtual instruments and sample packs for any genre from Afrobeats and R&B to Trap, Pop, and sync music for ads. This setup allows me to work efficiently while maintaining a high creative standard.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: "I’m inspired by producers and artists who blend innovation with strong musicality Timbaland for his unmatched rhythm and groove, Pharrell Williams for his genre-bending creativity, Sarz for his futuristic Afrobeats sound, and P2J for his modern, global touch. Jon Bellion’s unique songwriting and storytelling push me to think outside the box, while Calvin Harris’s atmospheric depth, Bruno Mars’s craftsmanship, and Mark Ronson’s sync-ready precision remind me to deliver music that’s both fresh and timeless."
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in end-to-end music production from songwriting and composing to mixing and mastering delivering high-quality, release-ready tracks. My work spans Afrobeats, Afro House, Hip Hop, Trap, R&B, Dancehall, and Pop, with a signature style that blends modern rhythms with rich, organic textures. I also craft music tailored for sync briefs, creating catchy, emotion-driven tracks for ads, TV, and digital campaigns. Whether it’s a club banger, a heartfelt ballad, or a commercial jingle, I help clients bring their vision to life with professional polish and creative flair.
