Cap on SoundBetter

Looking for a charting hit song, a film score, or a glossy mix that really touches the heart? I offer songwriting, music production, mixing engineering, and film scoring but might also help with the little details like string section composition and ghost production (it's our little secret). Let's make something that will be remembered.

I’m an award-winning producer, songwriter, and mix engineer from Nairobi, Kenya with nearly a decade of experience crafting music that connects. Over the last 9 years, I’ve built a versatile skill set from songwriting and arrangement to vocal production and engineering all sharpened through real-world studio work and collaborations.
My work has been streamed on major platforms including Netflix and featured at the Cannes Film Festival, and I take the same level of quality and story to every project that I work on. Whether you're creating a track from scratch or tweaking your final mixdown, I'm here to help you create music that sounds as wonderful as it feels.

Services
• Music Production / Beatmaking: You have a song idea but have no idea how to get it done? I'll help shape your vision with industry standard production.
• Mix Engineering: Need your sound tweaked? I'll deliver clean, bright mixes and tuned vocals that retain emotion.
• Songwriting (Topline): You've got an instrumental but don't have a melody? I craft melodies that stick on an emotional basis and elevate your song to the next level.
• Film Scoring & String Arrangement: Need cinematic depth or live-feel orchestration? I compose original scores and write string sections directly for your scene or track.
• Ghost Production: Need a radio-ready track without public acknowledgement? I can do that.

Cap is a one of a kind artist. Super reliable, fast and efficient. He helped me bring my idea to fruition. Bless his soul. Can’t wait to work on another project with him.

Interview with Cap

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: It is called D.R.U.G.S by Njeri (https://open.spotify.com/album/6p7woEtazKqCoSi4DpiIU8?si=nlQoGKuOTyOFnxAvB0rh0A). I was the executive producer on this project and I ended up producing majority of the album (8/9 songs). I really loved how I was able to pace the whole project as well as the sequence that we ended up landing on. It was also fun working on the transitions

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Im executive producing an EP for an artist called Albeezy as well as working on my producer album.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Israel Onyach. He is an artist I have worked with for some time and his ability to write songs is unmatched. The song just comes to him effortlessly

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: This is a tricky question haha. I love the convinience of digital but the analog sound is just unmatched. The price of analog equipment is also a big thing but as soon as I have some more money to work with, I would gladly dive into the analog world

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To care about your music as much as you do. When I send you back the final material, just know every detail was taken care of.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The fact that I can make something that connects emotionally with someone on the other side of the world with something that I can make in my studio

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: “Can you make this sound radio-ready?” Yes, but only if the emotion’s there, the polish follows naturally.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That producers or engineers just “press buttons.” Its more than that. A lot of emotion and storytelling involved we help bring something intangible to life.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: 1. What’s your vision for this song? 2. What do you want the listener to feel? 3. Do you have any references? 4. What’s your timeline and budget?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Im big on emotion because it trancends genre. So always know what emotion you want the listener to feel, share references and be open. The best results come from real collaboration and trust.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Definately my laptop My soundcard Headphones My hard drive Some Monitors

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been producing for almost 9 years, starting out just messing around on the keyboard in high school. Over time I taught myself songwriting, mixing, and scoring, and began working with studios and artists professionally. I’ve been all in ever since.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Emotional, cinematic, and layered. I love taking the listener on a journey, whether it’s a banger or a ballad.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: BEAM. I love his song writting as well as his ear for beats. We would blend really well together

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less is always more. All the songs that I have worked on that ended up being impactful always have the least elements

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I work across genres, but I’m most active in Hip-Hop, R&B, Afro-Fusion, and film scores. I love blending organic and digital elements to create something fresh.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Translating vague creative ideas into fully fleshed-out, professional tracks. I picked this skill from being in the studio alot. I’m great at listening to the artist and hearing the idea of the song and making it happen efficiently without losing the soul of it.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Emotion, storytelling, all in a clean package. Small details matter the most to me on a track, whether it’s a subtle chord voicing, vocal nuance, or a cinematic texture. I feel like these details give the track life

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by understanding the artist's vision, references, and emotional intent. Then I either write/produce a foundation or work from what’s provided. From here, I work with the artist closely to reach the final intended product

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My setup is compact but powerful. I use a MacBook Pro with Logic Pro X and FL Studio, a Universal Audio Apollo Twin, Yamaha HS8 monitors, and an Neumann TLM 103. In my opinion less is more

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My top 3 producers for a while now have been Metro Boomin, Wheezy and Wondagurl. As far as scores go, I really love what Ludwig Goransson is doing at the momment. I can't also forget the goat Hanz Zimmer

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I help artists shape their vision into fully realized songs from songwriting to beat and vocal production final mixes. I often work end-to-end, especially with artists who have an idea but need help bringing it to life. I've worked in the studio with artists for years so I have the experience of working with artists first hand
