Interview with Maximiliano Gomez Ojeda
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A client from Belgium, who’s not a musician, created songs using AI. I’m currently working on bringing those songs to life with my own recordings and adding personal compositions to enrich the final product. It’s a project I’m really excited about
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment, I’m working on a few different projects, recording piano and keyboard tracks for independent artists, and also composing original instrumental pieces for relaxation and ambient playlists
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't know anyone particularly on this platform
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I mainly work with high-quality VST plugins because they offer amazing flexibility, realistic sound, and a wide range of tones. With today’s technology, many virtual instruments sound incredibly close to analog gear, and they allow me to create, edit, and deliver with precision and consistency. For me, it's not about analog vs digital, it’s about choosing the tools that best serve the music
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to treat every project with care, respect, and full attention
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I enjoy most is being able to turn someone's musical idea into a real piece of music. I love the creative process, finding the right sounds, the perfect chords, the little details that make a track come to life
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Customers often ask things like: 'Can you match the style I'm looking for?', 'How long will it take?', 'Do you need sheet music or can you work by ear?', and 'Is the price final or does it include revisions?'. My answer is: Yes, I can adapt to many styles, from rock and metal to pop and romantic ballads. I work both by ear and with charts. The price I offer usually includes two or three revisions, depending on the project, and I always try to keep things clear and fair from the start. Communication is key to making sure the final result is exactly what the client is looking for
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some people think that playing keyboards is just about adding background chords or simple layers. Keyboards can bring as much power and emotion as any other instrument. It’s not just about filling space, it’s about enhancing the music in a thoughtful and creative way.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask for references or songs they like, details about the arrangement (instruments, tempo, mood), and if there are any specific parts they want me to focus on
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who really listens to what you need. Every project is unique, and it's important to find a provider who’s not only skilled, but also committed to understanding your musical vision
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The truth is I don't know!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve worked with many rock and metal bands in my country, as well as other styles like romantic melodic music and pop. I started in music over 15 years ago, and I've gained a lot of experience over time
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is emotional, subtle, and cinematic. Whether I’m playing piano or creating layers with keyboards, I focus on mood, dynamics, and space
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I don't really know. I just want to make the best product possible
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always take a moment to listen to the track in context — not just your instrument soloed. What sounds impressive alone might feel too busy or distracting when everything is playing together. Simplicity and space often make a track more emotional and powerful

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work in any style I'm given — no matter what it is.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is composing all kinds of piano parts and synthesizer accompaniments for the entire piece.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Pianos and keyboards mainly. Although I can also add more.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: What I do is understand all the details the client needs and immediately get to work. I always communicate a lot with my clients to ensure they’re satisfied with the final product.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with a Korg Kronos 2 synthesizer, a Korg M50, and many VST instruments from Arturia, Kontakt 8, and other libraries.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm deeply inspired by symphonic styles—mainly rock and metal—although I'm very versatile and open to any genre of music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The work I do most often for my clients consists of piano, keyboard, and synthesizer tracks for any type of project—whether it's songs or music needed for other kinds of work.
