Interview with Ekaterina Mamysheva

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Вот красивый и лаконичный перевод на английский: ⸻ At the moment, I’m working on creating my own mystical composition that recently came to me as inspiration.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: Вот грамотный и уверенный вариант на английском: ⸻ I promise my clients a high-quality result, along with multiple vocal takes to choose from — so they can find the one that fits their vision best.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: One of the biggest misconceptions about opera is the image of a large woman in a huge dress, standing alone in the center of the stage, singing loudly. Opera is so much more than that — it’s drama, nuance, emotion, and storytelling through voice. It’s alive, powerful, and deeply human.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I’ve been singing since early childhood. I hold both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from two conservatories, specializing in operatic singing and musical theatre performance. With nearly 20 years of professional experience, I perform on stage and in theaters, collaborate with composers from around the world, and record vocals for films and video games. I also write and compose my own original music.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: A living, powerful voice that comes from the soul.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Of course, I would love to work with Hans Zimmer one day — his music is absolutely breathtaking and deeply inspiring. Collaborating on one of his cinematic masterpieces would be a dream come true.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: Opera, ethnic, lyric

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: One of my strongest assets is my voice itself — a classically trained mezzo-soprano with a rich operatic background. I specialize in operatic, ethnic, and lyrical styles, bringing an authentic and emotionally resonant sound to every performance.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring a living, soulful presence to every track — the deep, resonant sound of a female voice that tells a story even without words. Many clients say they can feel the meaning I convey, even when I sing without lyrics. My voice doesn’t just accompany the music — it becomes part of its emotional core.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: This is how my typical workflow looks: I receive the main track from the composer, which I need to record vocals for. Sometimes I’m sent a finished melody with or without lyrics, and other times just a playback and melody line, requiring me to improvise on top — which I’m fully capable of doing as well. We discuss all the vocal nuances in advance to make sure everything aligns with the vision. Once everything is clear, I begin working. I work fast — you’ll receive the recordings within two to five days. I usually deliver 3 to 4 different takes so that the client can choose the one that fits their project best.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I live in several countries and record in different studios depending on where I am at the moment. Currently, I’m often based in Germany, Lithuania, and Russia. In each of these countries, I work with a professional sound engineer in a fully equipped studio.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: Jack Wall, Hans Zimmer, Jesper Kyd, Bear McCreary, Olivier Deriviere

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: I am a soundtrack vocalist for films and video games. In most cases, I record remotely in a professional studio, delivering high-quality vocals. However, in-person recording sessions at your studio are also possible upon agreement.
