I’ll take your raw vocals or demo and turn it into a polished, emotional record — from songwriting to production to final master.
I’m JRZ — a producer, mixing/mastering engineer, and songwriter focused on bringing emotional depth to every track. I specialize in clean, dynamic vocals, warm R&B textures, and dark atmospheric sounds. Whether you need a full song produced, a hook written, or a finished mix that sounds like the pros, I’m here to help you unlock your full potential. I treat every project like it’s mine — because I’m an artist too.

Interview with JRZ
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a track where the artist sent me a rough iPhone recording and said, “Can you do anything with this?” I produced the beat, helped write the hook, mixed and mastered the whole song — and it ended up being one of their most streamed tracks. That’s what it’s about for me.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My own EP and a few singles for up-and-coming R&B artists in NC and NYC. Also collaborating with artists on TikTok who want to turn demos into full songs.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. The tools today are powerful, flexible, and accessible. It’s not about what you use, it’s how you use it.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I’ll treat your song like it’s mine. No half-effort. No cookie-cutter. I’ll give you a mix that feels like you — just leveled up.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Hearing someone light up when they hear their own voice sounding like it belongs on a record. That moment never gets old.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: “Can you make it sound industry?” Yes — but only if the recording is clean enough. The mix is important, but a good vocal take always wins.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I just “make it louder.” Mixing is about feeling, space, energy, and storytelling — not just volume.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask what vibe they’re going for, if they have reference tracks, what they like/dislike about their current sound, and how they record. Knowing this helps me tailor the sound to them personally.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to their work and communication style. Find someone who listens to you, not just your song. This is a collab, not a transaction.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: LCT 440 Pure mic, MacBook with FL Studio, Focusrite interface, a good pair of headphones (DT 770s), and WiFi so I can still send mixes 😎
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a singer and songwriter, engineering my own vocals out of necessity. That grew into a love for mixing and helping other artists sound their best. I’ve been doing this for 2 years now and treat every mix like it’s my own.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean, emotional, textured, and warm. I go for subtle details that hit you without being obvious — depth that makes you feel something without needing to say much.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Brent Faiyaz. His music blends mood and vulnerability in a way that feels real — I know I could help bring out even more detail and depth in his sound.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always reference your mix on different speakers (AirPods, phone, car, etc.). A pro mix doesn’t just sound good in the studio — it sounds good everywhere.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mainly R&B, alternative R&B, hip-hop, trap soul, and melodic rap — but I’m flexible and love anything with emotion and a good groove.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Understanding the artist’s vision and translating it into sound. Whether it’s the tone of your vocal or the way your drums hit, I know how to bring the best version of your track to life.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Vibe, clarity, and heart. I help the emotion in your vocals shine through while making sure the mix feels balanced, spacious, and alive.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always start by listening to the artist’s vision or reference track. Then I build a clean gain stage, balance everything, dial in emotion through EQ, compression, and effects, and finish with a loud, clean master. I keep communication open the whole time — it’s always a collab.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a treated home studio with an LCT 440 Pure mic, Focusrite Scarlett interface, FL Studio, Ableton, and plugins like FabFilter, iZotope, Waves, Antares, and Valhalla. It’s clean, efficient, and everything I need to deliver top-tier sound.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Brent Faiyaz for his raw emotion, Sango for his unique drums, and Tyler, The Creator for his fearless creativity. I’m also inspired by the engineers behind the scenes who give records that immersive feel — like Jaycen Joshua and MixedByAli.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly mix and master vocals for R&B and hip-hop artists who record at home and want that clean, professional, emotional sound. I also help with songwriting and production for artists starting with just a rough idea or demo.
