Interview with Aluxic
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A mix + master for my client Keiko. One Song is in my referenced mp3 files.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I believe the digital world of plugins is doing quite a good job of modeling the effects that analog gear has. On top of that you dont have to carry around all those devices. A whole studio inside one laptop. So my answer is: digital high quality emulations of analog gear.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: If you dont like my mix or master I will adress any problem you have. I will also be honest about what i cannot fix in a mix because there certainly are things like these.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who respects your wishes, no matter what they are. Nobody likes to be processed like on a conveyor belt
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: In 2018 I bought my first mic and started recording with some rappers from my school. Since then I have developed my skills and started making my own songs and beats. in 2025 I built my own Studio and went fulltime on music production.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Narvent - he is inspiring and creates beautiful music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always dial in your ears & gear by actively referencing similar songs if you want an industry standard mix
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Having a very good listening environment and detecting problems inside a mix.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After I receive a project I will start looking for similar songs so I know which ballpark I have to be in. After my ears adjusted to the sound I will load up the stems into my DAW and start sorting them (Vocs, Drums, Bass, Instruments, FX, etc.). After this I will mix and swap through the stems, starting with the most important ones until the song has reached a good level. Whenever im unsure about the levels I will compare with the reference mix or give my ears a break. After adressing all stems a couple of times the mix is done.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It is a smaller room in my actual bedroom. Fully enclosed with walls and 15cm / 6 inches thick acoustic isolation panels. My desk is centered in there with 2 studio monitors, my laptop, interface and headphones
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I receive stems from a song or a finished mix and will process it to be ready for uploading it to streaming services
