Endorse Einar VilbergSo he really helped us out when we were taking our first steps in the music scene here in our homeland, Iceland.

2/3
He even helped us fill in on the keyboard and came up with good ideas on the guitar to make the record sound better. Not only did he mix and master our three song EP, he also helped us with the puplishing part. He got us a spot on the biggest radio station in Iceland and we played there live accustic session in a morning show soon after our record came out.1/3
Einar Vilberg helped us a lot when me and my band Sleeping Minds came to Hljóðverk, his studio for the first time. With no experince in the studio and not really a good idea about what kind of sound we were looking for, he was patient about everything and gave some pointers about what we were on and what kind of we were going for.I recorded vocals and some additional guitars with Einar Vilberg and his brother Stefán for my album. Einar being an amazing singer and hero guitarist gave great advice and was just so professional in the overall process. Comes highly recommended, great to work with and a great guy :)
-- there is also so much to the sound at his Studio, hljóðverk. it is magical, expecially drum sounds you just can hear it, and i asked the brothers how they get that harsh and clear sound out of that blue cabin and they wouldnt share their secret wich but a smile on my face. offcourse becouse magicians dont tell their secret!
one day i got really lucky and grateful one day and came to him with a cornerstone of guitarmelody and a little break in the song that i wanted to record. in a very brief time things escaleted very fast and Einar and his brother Stefán helped me take this song whole another dimension and the outcome was beautiful post rock song that i really care about.
Great working with you Einar Vilberg.I highly recommend Einar as he is professional and easy going in the studio. I went in with the idea of recording backing tracks for an album, I ended up doing the whole album in his studio and him mixing it.
Einar is not a walking rec button who only is in it for the money, he really wants the music he records and produces to sound great, my band went to him to record a song and we were amazed on how dedicated he was to making the song come out good, he listens to your needs and try´s he´s best to make that come true.
I have had the privilidge to work with Einar on serveral projects. He knows what he wants and works fast and efficient. I would recomend Einar to anyone who wants sound/music recording, mixing, producing og post processing for tv or film. A true professional.
I had no experience in recording music when I first worked with Einar but he made it feel really easy and I believe he got the best out of me in no time. His level of professionalism becomes obvious as soon as you start working with him. I highly recommend Einar when it comes to any type of music production or recording.
I've recorded drums on a number of occasions in Einar's studio with him on the buttons. Great sounding room and relaxed atmosphere.
Einar gets you a great sound fast and you spend your time making music instead of getting levels.
Highly recommended. In Einar's studio he shows great understanding and patience with musicians. Combining that with fantastic knowledge of sound engineering.
For the band Sleeping Minds we worked with him in recording/mixing/mastering an EP. We were happy with the results. Worked with him again on another single subsequently.Einar recorded, mixed and mastered the second album for my band, Casio Fatso. The process was very enjoyable and Einar made the band feel at home. There was never anything that was a problem, there were only decisions and Einar usually made all the right ones.
The product will speak for itself but what people will be interested to know is that Einar Vilberg is a true professional.Love this guy, highly recommend him !
Interview with Einar Vilberg
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Echoes" The latest NOISE record I am especially proud of because I had a vision for the record from the get go, I produced, recorded, mixed and mastered the record. I also did the string arrangements and the record ended up sounding even better than what I had in my mind. It got praised by critics as the bands best album to date. You can listen to Echoes here: https://www.noiseiceland.com/store
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Casio Fatso, NOISE, YRY, Mighty Bear, My own solo record, and an unnamed local rock/blues band
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No. I just created this profile!=)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. I love being able to edit and manipulate tracks in pro tools but it´s an essential part of my work flow when tracking and mixing to be working on an analog console, doing fader rides and using the board to create the vibe.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I work quickly and efficiently and I won´t put my name on anything that I am not really proud of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The versatility and creating different types of magic
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Question: Should we record this live as a band or record one instrument at a time ? Answer: Is there a great live chemistry between you as a band that we might be missing out on by not doing it live ? Are you really well rehearsed ?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Music production is not something that takes little time.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What´s your vision, what´s your budget and what´s the deadline.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Get in touch
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A guitar, a Macbook Pro filled with plugins and PT HD12, a condenser mic, a dynamic mic and a utility knife.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out singing, playing guitar and writing music at age 12 after being influenced by the Beatles, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix. I formed a band with my brother and we released out first record in 2001 at age 16. When the first single off that record went straight to the top of the radio charts in Iceland I got a good boost to continue on my musical journey. Since then I have written and released 5 records, toured internationally and worked with renowned producers in various studios over the world. I always loved being in studios and being able to watch professional producers and engineers at work. I gradually started co-producing and mixing the records we were making. I then decided to go ahead and further my knowledge of audio engineering and enrolled in a dedicated audio school. I got my diploma in audio engineering and after graduating I started recording and mixing records in various studios as a freelancer. It quickly became apparent to me that I needed something bigger, I needed my own studio and so I started scouting for a good location. I soon found a beautiful big and open space and in a six month period of working day and night with an acoustical engineer we had professionally built an amazing sounding studio that has now become one of the most highly regarded studio in Iceland, drawing in clients from all around the world.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is my own and it has been shaped by spending most of my life making music and being in studios.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Stone Temple Pilots because every record they made was like a new beginning to an ongoing story. Billy Corgan because he´s known for being a man with a strong vision for his projects and I love a challenge. The Foo Fighters because Dave Grohl just has to be insanely fun to work with.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don´t over edit everything to the point where the performances lose their charm / feel. If the music being worked on needs dynamics allow it to have dynamics without over compressing everything.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock - Pop - Indie - Alternative - Hard Rock
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Producing / recording and mixing. I have produced, recorded and mixed over 30 records in recent years with various artists as well as my own band and solo material.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Every time I work on a song or a record my main focus is to make sure that the artist gets their vision across and if the vision is blurry I will push it in the right direction. Another main priority for me is making sure the project sounds as good as it possibly can.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: A strong work ethic that I tailor to the project at hand.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio consists of a big wonderful sounding live room, perfect for tracking bands live, drum recording, orchestral work and basically any type of recordings. Control room A is a spacious, professionally treated mixing room where the 32 channel analog console resides, which is the heart of the studio. The room is also filled with various outboard gear such as 1176´s, LA2A´s and more studio essentials. Control room B is a dedicated mastering suite with outboard compressors and EQ´s.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have been greatly inspired by professionals such as Andy Wallace, Steve Albini, Butch Vig, Chris Lord-Alge, Brendan O'Brien and Nick Launay
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing, Recording, Mixing and Mastering at my studio Hljodverk. I also do a lot of session instrumentation on drums, guitars, bass and vocals.
