  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: What I love most about my job is shaping sound into something that feels alive. Music is ultimately a perception—an illusion our brain creates from waves moving through air. Mixing and mastering feels like sculpting in that invisible medium: shaping frequencies, dynamics, and spatial depth to create a three-dimensional experience that moves through time. It's a balance of technical precision and artistic intuition, and I find that process endlessly inspiring.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I started my career over a decade ago as a musician and live sound engineer, touring across Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. with a wide range of artists. Over time, I gravitated more toward the studio side of things, drawn by the creative depth and control it offers. I've since worked on more than 30 productions as a mixing and mastering engineer, especially in the alternative, experimental, and Latin music scenes. My background in both music performance and visual arts deeply informs my approach—each project is a unique creative collaboration where sound and concept go hand in hand.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: I’d describe my style as versatile, detailed, and always in service of the music. I don’t believe in rigid formulas—any sound can work if it has purpose and emotional weight. Coming from a rock background, I tend to gravitate toward mixes with impact and presence, but I also pay close attention to nuance and texture. Clients often describe my approach as musical, because I never treat audio as something separate from the composition itself. I prioritize the artist’s voice and intention, not forcing them to adapt to a technical ideal. Whether I’m working on a raw home recording or a polished studio session, my goal is to enhance the essence of the piece—powerful, expressive, and honest.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: Whether I’m mixing or mastering a track, I always start by speaking with the artist to understand the concept behind the piece—the aesthetic intention, emotional direction, and overall vision. The more I know about the artist’s influences and preferences, the better I can guide the technical process toward their desired outcome. I then spend time listening to the material repeatedly—on different systems, in various environments—getting familiar with every detail: each track, instrument, microphone, and performance nuance. From there, depending on whether it's mixing or mastering, I move into a tailored workflow for the project, always aiming to balance the artist’s vision with the sonic reality of the source material. My goal is to find that sweet spot where creative intent, technical precision, and emotional impact come together.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists and producers across genres and regions. Growing up with Latin American rock icons like Soda Stereo, Charly García, and Fito Páez shaped my melodic and lyrical sensibility. Punk and metal bands like NOFX, Minor Threat, Slipknot, and Gojira have also influenced my energy and approach to dynamics and texture. I’m deeply rooted in Latin rhythms as well—artists like Joe Arroyo, La Fania All-Stars, and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico continue to shape my rhythmic instincts. I’m also inspired by experimental and genre-blending acts like Los Pirañas, MULA, and Chúpame el Dedo, with whom I’ve also collaborated. All these influences inform a hybrid, creative approach to mixing and production that’s both grounded and exploratory.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: The most common work I do for my clients is mixing and mastering full tracks or EPs, especially within alternative, experimental, and Latin-influenced genres. I work with both studio and live recordings, helping artists achieve a balanced and character-driven sound that reflects their musical identity. Many projects come from independent musicians working in lo-fi or DIY contexts, where part of my role is to enhance clarity and impact while preserving the unique textures of the original material.
