Interview with Oxide
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of my track Ana Meen, which achieved a significant milestone by reaching #57 on the Spotify Egypt most listened songs charts. My role was comprehensive, I served as the executive producer and leading artist while also handling the production and audio engineering. I’m proud of this project because it successfully combined my artistic vision with a high-end commercial sound, proving that a unique, well-engineered record can compete at the highest level on major streaming platforms.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently in the final stages of a kinda Hip-Hop/RnB project titled Rendezvous. It’s about 60% finished, and I’m currently focused on the final recording sessions and detailed mixing phases. Alongside this, I am actively producing and engineering tracks for several prominent artists at my new HQ in Zahraa El Maadi, ensuring every project reaches a radio-ready standard.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I believe in the power of a strong creative community. While I handle the majority of production, mixing, and mastering in-house at my Cairo HQ, I am always open to recommending top-tier session musicians or specialized songwriters I’ve collaborated with if the project requires a specific niche expertise. A great record is often the result of the right collective energy.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I believe in a hybrid approach. I love the warmth and character that high-end analog gear like the Sony C800G texture brings to a vocal, but I also value the surgical precision and recall-ability of the digital world. My workflow utilizes the best of both, capturing high-quality sources and then using cutting-edge 2026 digital processing to achieve a polished, modern, and expensive sonic finish.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is simple, I am not finished until you are 100% thrilled with the sound of your record. I promise to treat your music with the same level of care and hit-making intuition that I apply to my own charting releases. You will always retain full ownership of your masters and 100% of your royalties, with a commitment to professional communication throughout the entire process.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I love most is the executive perspective of seeing a project evolve from a raw idea into a powerful final record. There’s a unique energy in collaborating with other artists to develop their sound and witnessing that moment when a vocal performance perfectly sits in the mix. Being both an artist and an engineer allows me to bridge the gap between technical precision and creative emotion.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Question: "Can you give my song that commercial or expensive sound found on the charts?" Answer: "Absolutely. Achieving a radio-ready sound is about more than just a loud master, it’s about meticulous vocal production and a balanced mix. Having reached the Spotify Egypt Top 100 with my own music, I use the same professional techniques and high-end processing on your tracks to ensure they meet industry standards for clarity, impact, and depth."
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that a producer or engineer is just a technician behind a screen. In reality, I act as a creative partner and a leader for the project's sonic identity. My job isn't just to "clean up" audio, it’s to develop the artist, guide the emotional impact of the performance, and ensure the record has the competitive edge needed to stand out on global charts.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start by asking for reference tracks, feelings, vibes to understand the desired sonic direction. I also ask about the project's deadline, the technical state of the raw files (sample rate/bit depth), and what the artist feels is currently (missing) from the demo. Understanding your long-term goals for the release helps me tailor the production to fit the right target.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look beyond the technical list of plugins and focus on the (ear) and the results. Hire someone who understands the artist's perspective and has a proven track record of chart success. Communication is key, choose a professional who asks the right questions about your vision and is committed to developing your unique sound rather than just applying a generic preset and calling it a day.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: To maintain a world-class sound anywhere, I’d take a high-performance workstation like Mac Studio M3 Ultra for limitless processing. A Sony C800G for that flagship vocal texture. My trusted audio interface for pristine conversion is UAD Apollo Twin X QUAD. A pair of Genelec 8351B monitors for critical accuracy. Finally, A versatile MIDI controller to capture every melodic idea instantly, like Novation Launchkey 61 MK4.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My journey began with a deep passion for the technical side of audio engineering, which naturally evolved into professional music production. I’ve spent the last few years refining my craft, eventually reaching the Spotify Top 100 charts in Egypt. This success solidified my identity as a leading artist. Today, I balance my professional studio work with my academic background in Business Information Systems, allowing me to approach the music industry with both creative and strategic expertise.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is defined by high-energy, polished, and competitive sound. I focus on creating tracks that are ready for major streaming platforms, ensuring every element has its own space and impact. Whether it’s hard-hitting urban beats or smooth, vocal-centric arrangements, I prioritize a professional and expensive sonic finish that resonates with a wide audience.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to collaborate with artists who push the boundaries of modern Hip-Hop and R&B, such as Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, Drake, The Weeknd. Their focus on atmospheric soundscapes and meticulous attention to vocal texture aligns perfectly with my production philosophy. I’m drawn to artists who value the "frontman" energy while maintaining a high level of technical sophistication in their records.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Focus on the source before the processing. A common mistake is trying to "fix" a poor vocal take with endless plugins. My tip is to spend more time on vocal production and coaching during the recording phase. If the performance and the raw recording are solid, the mix will fall into place naturally. Use tools like Melodyne surgically to enhance the performance, not to recreate it from scratch.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work on Hip-Hop, Trap, and R&B, but I am versatile enough to handle any project that requires a high-energy, modern sound. Whether it’s hard-hitting 808s or smooth, soulful arrangements, I specialize in genres that demand a professional, radio-ready finish and a deep understanding of contemporary music trends.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is surgical vocal production and professional audio engineering. I excel at taking raw vocal takes and transforming them into a polished, "expensive" sound through precise pitch correction, tonal balancing, and creative processing. I take pride in my ability to make vocals stand out in a mix while maintaining their natural character and emotional power.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the intuition of a charting artist who understands what it takes to succeed on major platforms like Spotify. Having reached the Top 100 charts in Egypt, I don’t just offer technical skills, I bring a "frontman" perspective that focuses on energy, impact, and artist development. I help elevate the song’s vibe so it doesn't just sound professional, but also has that competitive hit factor required in today’s industry.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process begins with a deep dive into your vision for the project. I start with a consultation to understand the emotional core of the song. From there, I move into the surgical phase, meticulous vocal tuning (Melodyne, or others) and time alignment to ensure a solid foundation. Moreover, cleaning audio files from any noises, loud breaths, etc. Once the tracks are polished, I move into a hybrid mixing stage, blending modern digital precision with professional engineering techniques. I provide consistent updates and welcome feedback to ensure the final master perfectly aligns with your artistic goals.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I operate out of my private HQ in Zahraa El Maadi, Cairo, designed for a high-end hybrid workflow. My setup is centered around FL Studio, Ableton and Pro Tools for industry-standard stability and precision. I utilize a mix of premium digital processing and carefully selected hardware to achieve a polished, expensive sound. My monitoring environment is optimized for critical listening, ensuring that every mix translates perfectly from club systems to smartphone speakers. I prioritize a fast, powerful computing environment to handle massive track counts and complex plugin chains without compromising creativity.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am deeply inspired by engineers and producers who bridge the gap between technical perfection and raw, artistic energy. I look up to professionals who have mastered the hybrid workflow, combining the warmth of analog gear with the precision of modern digital tools to create a sound that is both timeless and cutting-edge. Engineers like: Heba Kadry, Mike Bozzi, Joe Laporta, MixedByAli, Illangelo and Mike Dean
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily focus on high-end Music Production and Audio Engineering, specializing in taking a raw demo and turning it into a chart-ready hit. My most common work involves full-track production, surgical vocal editing (Melodyne/Time Alignment), and professional Mixing and Mastering. Because I am an active artist myself with tracks in the Spotify Egypt Top 100, I often provide artist development and vocal coaching during sessions to ensure the performance matches the high technical quality of the record.
