Interview with Omar

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is my track "Fi 3neky." My role was everything: I wrote the lyrics, composed the melody, performed the vocals, and handled the full mixing and mastering process. I’m proud of it because it was a personal and emotional song that connected deeply with my audience. I put a lot of effort into making sure the sound was clean, the emotions were real, and the vibe was unique — and seeing people relate to it made all the hard work worth it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m mixing a dope hip-hop track for an up-and-coming artist—layering some heavy 808s and getting those vocals to pop. I’m also producing a chill indie pop song, adding some dreamy synths and live guitar. Always juggling a few projects, which keeps things exciting!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don’t have specific names since I’m new to SoundBetter myself, but I’d say check out other producers or engineers who specialize in your genre—look at their portfolios and reviews! If you need something I don’t do, I can help you find someone awesome on here to collab with.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I’m a hybrid guy—I love the best of both worlds! Digital gives me flexibility and precision, like in Pro Tools or Ableton, to edit and experiment fast. But analog? That warmth and character, like running vocals through a tape machine or using a real outboard compressor, just adds a magic that digital can’t quite replicate. It depends on the vibe we’re going for!

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to really listen to what you want and bring your vision to life with a sound that’s polished but still feels like you. I’ll keep things fun and stress-free, deliver on time, and make sure you’re 100% happy with the final track. Your music deserves to shine, and I’ve got your back!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Honestly, I love the moment when a track comes together—like, when all the pieces click, and you can feel the emotion in the music. There’s nothing better than taking an artist’s raw idea and turning it into something they’re totally stoked about. Plus, I get to play with cool gear and sounds all day, which is a dream come true!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients often ask, “Can you make my vocals sound professional?” My answer is: Absolutely! I use a combination of pitch correction, EQ, compression, and reverb to enhance vocals while keeping them natural. I’ll work with you to get the sound you’re envisioning.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People often think sound engineering and music production are just about pressing buttons or using software. In reality, it’s a creative and technical art form—balancing the artist’s vision with technical precision to make a track sound polished and emotionally impactful.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask: What’s the vibe or genre you’re aiming for? Do you have any reference tracks? What’s your timeline and budget? Are there specific instruments or production elements you want to focus on? This helps me understand their needs and ensure we’re a good fit.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone with a strong portfolio that matches your style. Communication is key—make sure they understand your vision and can deliver on time. Also, check reviews to see how they’ve worked with others, and don’t hesitate to ask for a sample mix to feel confident in their skills.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I’d bring my laptop with a DAW, a high-quality condenser mic (like a Neumann U87), a pair of studio monitors (like Yamaha HS8), an audio interface (like a Focusrite Scarlett), and a MIDI keyboard (like a Komplete Kontrol). These essentials would let me create and produce music anywhere.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been passionate about music for over 7 years. I started producing and mixing tracks for myself and local artists, and over time, I developed my skills into professional-level production, mixing, and mastering.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is clean, emotional, and dynamic. I aim to make every track feel alive, with powerful vocals sitting perfectly in the mix and a sound that's ready for radio and streaming platforms.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I'd love to work with Drake because he’s a master of emotion and storytelling in music. His versatility and sound evolution always inspire me to push my limits.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always focus on getting a clean recording first — no amount of mixing can fix a bad recording. Also, less is often more: give every sound its own space to breathe.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on Hip Hop, R&B, Drill, Trap, and Pop. I love blending genres to create unique and emotional sounds that connect with people.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my ear for detail — I can catch the smallest imperfections and enhance the vibe of a song without losing its original emotion. Whether it's mixing, mastering, or vocal production, I always aim for perfection.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring clarity, emotional depth, and a professional finish. I focus on highlighting the artist’s strengths while giving the song the right space, energy, and sonic balance it needs to shine.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by carefully listening to the artist’s vision and reference tracks. Then, I clean the audio, balance the mix, enhance the sound using EQ, compression, and effects, and finally polish the track with mastering to make sure it sounds great on any platform.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a professional home studio setup equipped with industry-standard plugins and software like FL Studio, and Waves bundles. I use a high-quality audio interface, studio monitors, and a condenser microphone to ensure clean recordings and accurate mixing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I get a lot of inspiration from artists like The Weeknd and Drake, especially how they blend emotional lyrics with smooth melodies. On the production side, I look up to producers like Metro Boomin and Murda Beatz for their creative sound design and the way they build deep atmospheres.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is producing tracks that blend rap and RnB elements. I usually help with writing lyrics, producing beats, and mixing and mastering the final product. A lot of clients come to me for deep, emotional tracks with strong vocal melodies and catchy hooks. I always make sure to collaborate closely with them to capture their vision and deliver something unique, whether it’s for a single or a full project.
