Multiple Billboard #1's in the Dance charts. A true pioneer in electronic music production for over 2 decades. Grammy nominated for work with Seal. I have worked alongside some of the worlds biggest artists and Dj's. I can take you tracks to the next level. If you love a great sounding mix with a 3D feel, I can get you there.
I have performed, programmed, engineered, mixed and co-produced DJ Sasha's first 2 Involver albums, all his work from 2001 to 2011. These included tracks from Unkle, Thom Yorke, and M83. I have also remixed, mixed and engineered work by Seal, Madonna, Depeche Mode, New Order, Britney Spears, The Flaming Lips, and Girls in Hawaii, to name but a few...
Most recent album projects for Ash Walker, and Lavender for Late Night Tales. I recently collaborated with Sasha on his new Da Vinci Genius Score classical album for Night Time Stories. I am currently working with The Band Everything on their new upcoming album.
I have extensive knowledge of modern digital recording & software. This would include Protools, Logic Pro, Cubase Pro and Ableton Live. I have a huge collection of plugins, and a deep knowledge of synthesis and sound design. I love using guitar pedals for sound design. Its a passion of mine. I also love analogue synths. I have been using vintage synths for the past 30 years. Many of the sounds you have heard on recordings I have done, have been created by myself. This would include presets for Eventide, Arturia, SSL, and 36db Ltd.
I am a great collaborator, and thrive under pressure. If you need your track taken to the next level. Let me know.

Endorse Barry JamiesonI’m thrilled to Endorse Barry's work, a remarkable sound engineer and true legend in the field. Barry mixed two of my early records, released under the LA-based label Pipe & Pocket, and the experience was invaluable. His level of professionalism and keen ear for detail are truly unmatched, while his friendly and engaging approach made the creative process enjoyable and collaborative. Working alongside someone of Barry's stature was a personal honor, and I deeply appreciate his dedication and talent.
Barry is an incredible producer, programmer and musician and a lovely human being. Can’t recommend him highly enough he is an asset in any creative and musical setting.
Bazz is one of the best in the business. I have known him ever since he asked me to remix his band in the 90's (was my fist ever remix) He's an incredible fountain of knowledge in the studio. There isn't really anything he doesn't know/understand/or can work out. His energy is boundless and we have worked on so many projects over the last 30+years. Its a testament to his skills as a producer, his ability to work fast and under pressure. `On top of that he's a diamond geezer and general top mate. Not really what else to say. Hes a legend.
Baz is literally one of most inspiring people I have worked with. I have worked with many people over the years but nobody else I’ve worked with has the skills and mindset in the studio of Baz. He will tirelessly work away to get the best result every time and nothing is ever too much for him. His understanding of software on multiple platforms is second to none. His ability to problem solve in any situation be it technical or creative is rare and comes naturally to him. The time we spent together working on Sasha material in New York was a turning point for me. I learned so much from him.
I have known Barry for many years, first as a fan of his productions with Sasha , later when we worked together on different track projects for albums ive released, then others he did with Sentre and also we published his music on my label Sudbeat.
Lately we also collaborated with him & Dave Gardner on a set of Ableton live environments with his company 36db with really good results.
Probably one of the verey best in the music biz - Quality all over the place and always a great producer to work with himI have had the privilege of knowing and working with Bazz for over 20 years. His knowledge and expertise in electronic music production is unsurpassed. From sound design to mixing, equipment operation and creative technique he is in a class of his own. The backbone of any serious recording session - he's first to arrive and last to leave. I ask Bazz first, Google second.
The records we have worked on together sound great because of his ability to quietly steer the project with humility and just get it done.
Absolute powerhouse of a talent.I run a music school specialising in Electronic Music and I regularly hire Barry to present, teach and feedback on our students work. His ear for improving a track and adding creative flair is extraordinary to witness. He has the ability to quickly identify technical areas for improvement and the sound design and engineering expertise to bring tracks to life and give them an innovative edge.
If you're looking to work with a professional with a track record of excellence who will deliver on brief whilst also presenting you with suprising and exciting creative ideas then Barry is your man.
I have known and worked with Barry for 30 years and can not think of anybody else that I’d prefer to work with more in the future. His many talents as a musician and producer are only barely exceeded by his tireless persistence and admirable work ethic. When I look back through my record collection I could fill a crate with favorites that Barry has been involved with, and a few are collaborations I’ve been luck enough to be involved with. A great guy and one of my favorite people.
I've known Baz since the late 1990s. He's been a mentor, mate and my go to person for hitting up when I need to figure out how to fix some techy thing in the studio that has been doing my head in. I can't count the number of times I've gone to him and asked him how to do 'x' thing and he's always come up with a viable working solution. Baz's resume is unrivalled in electronic music. That preset you're using on the Arturia Jupiter-8? Baz probably made it. That Sasha track you're dancing to and marvelling about how it sounds so fat? Baz was the engineer and co-producer. Baz is your guy!
Barry has been a part of everything that I have worked on in the last 20 years, from albums remixes, live shows the lot. He has an incredible amount of experience in all fields of making and producing music. He is my go to guy whenever I need any advice or help on any project. He is extremely easy to work with and a brilliant collaborator. If you are looking to make incredible sounding music then Barry is your guy.
I have know and worked with Barry most of my life, together we formed Evolution when we were kids and developed the band to be one of the best progressive music acts in the game, Barry has the ability to form and nurture the best out of people he just has the talent to see the potential in everybody and bring out the magic, how you measure success well being at the top of your game for as long as Barry has is a very good start, keep rocking Bro your the best
Barry is a true innovator in the electronic music production/ artist world. His technical skills are on a maverick level that few people could get even close to. His humble approach as a gateway to this skill has been a backbone to many legendary performers and artists works. And on top of his technical and musical skill and sense he’s a pleasure to be around. The real deal. And good bloke.
I have known and worked with Barry Jamieson since the 90’s. His talent for production is solidly based on his outstanding musicianship. From vocal arrangements to intricately woven instrumental productions Barry has always aspired to be better than the rest. His sessions are notable for what’s achieved with what feels like no effort, he always brings the best out of artists and makes it seem so easy. The smartest thing I ever did ‘prior to becoming a dad’ was to work with Mr Jamieson who never failed to inspire, with either his abundant technical abilities or his musicianship.
Not only does Barry know his onions, but is a true gent, professional and master of his craft.
Baz was an absolute legend to work with on our album. Super nice guy and really willing to get stuck in and dedicated to get it sounding right. We had very specific and unconventional sonic designs for this project and having previously always mixed our own stuff Barry was very patient and accommodating, and got stuck in to understanding our vision and help us realise it. But also adding a layer of finessing and balancing that was really needed and expertly done.
Would highly recommend! Big love from Adam & Oskar (lavender)
Interview with Barry Jamieson
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started messing on synths and keyboards at around 11 years old. I taught myself to play keyboards and then got into MIDI and what it could do back in 1983-84. This was a turning point for me. I messed around with tape recorders and porta-studios, which set a bomb off in my head. I was in a band called Evolution for many years. This was my ticket to success in the music business. It opened up many doors to work with other artists and master my studio skills. This would eventually lead to mixing and mastering for many artists, and friends.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I just completed mixing the debut album for the band Lavender from London. It is an acoustic lead album but with an inner city twist that Lavender bring from living in London. Adam and Oskar did a fantastic job putting this album together. Great songs and style in what they do, and what they wanted to create for this album.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently starting an album project for the band Everything. They have been working on a new album this past year. Craig and the guys have got something really special that I am super happy to be involved in.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both for me. They each have their place in music production. Super clean digital sounding music is boring to my ears. I like texture and soul in the music I like and create. This adds character and style to a track. Analog is key for this to me.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What DAW do you use. Do you use any unusual plugins that are not weak known. Do you have any reference tracks you are trying to emulate in the sound of the mix?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you want something different about your music and mixes, I like to find something that makes it more 3D in sound and experience. Sound design is a tool I love to use that makes songs interesting, and jump out of the speakers. I feel it is a much more enveloping listen for the audience, which I strive to create within a mix.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Moog Sub37, Roland TR8S, HydraSynth, Roland Jupiter 6 and Macbook Pro. They are all very important bits of gear for me, that I have extensively used in my work for 30 years. Some newer, but just ground breaking tools for the studio.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like details and texture in my recordings. Style is not really a thing for me, as I like to try lots of things, and sometimes fuse genres in music. I like to feel no conformist in a way. Creativity shouldn't be restricted or pigeon hold. That only kills the vibe of song creation.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Thom Yorke. I love Radiohead. They have been such an innovative band over the years. Thom has always been a trail blazer and a creative beacon for me. I worked on a remix of his Eraser track alongside Sasha and Charlie May for Sasha's Involver 2 album. Them loved what we had done with the track. It was a lot of sound design and intricate details that kept the track interesting and expressive. Getting the chance to work with him directly would be a true joy for me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Do not be afraid of background noise and glitches in your recordings. Sometimes, these ca really add to the vibe of the recording. The energy of the place you record in is captured, and should be allowed to share its place in the recording. Some times a little hum and dirt makes a song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic music îs my most worked on music, as well as experimental stuff. My most recent work has been all live instruments for the past 2 albums for Ash Walker, and Lavender. Both quite different in approach to the mixes. Ash's work is very dub and dusty sounding, with lots of horns, guitar, live drums, and Rhodes. Lavender was very acoustic guitar lead with lots of vocal layers and harmonies, but with a very detailed close and subtle sound to most of the album. These guys really had a vision to what they wanted from the album, and I think we really did achieve that.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I love to sound design and turn things on their head. This has been a large part of what I have done working alongside DJ Sasha. We are always trying to do something different, and trying to find every sound a unique signature that stands out on a recording. This is vital to giving each song an identity, and to help it stand out from the crowd.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Producing can be a subtle thing, or a very involved roll for a song. Some artists have a very distinctive vibe they are searching for or have already got in place. This can change from song to song. This roll is a very two way street, to find the right balance of what a producer will bring to the project. For mixing, I feel the client always has a vision in their head of what the track should sound like. Big and loud, or intimate and detailed. These are all things we need to discuss and find a happy balance of what they are searching for. A good reference track always helps.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically like to get the full session from a client first. Be it Protools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton. I ask for all tracks to be frozen. This way I can see if there is a plugin I do not have, but can grab, or flatten the track to work on. Then I can build the mix as I want, to keep things organized.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a large collection of new and vintage synths and drum machines that I have owned for many many years. I also have a lot of outboard gear that I have collected, including many guitar pedals. Mac's are my computer of choice. I use many different DAWS, and crazy software for sound design. MetaSynth being one such tool. I mix in the box, and have done for many years now. Eventide, SSL, Soundtoys, Fabfilter, Softube, UA, Plugin Alliance, I have them all. It is a bit of an obsession at this point. Lol. Not many plugins I don't have these days.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What DAW do you use. Do you use any unusual plugins that are not weak known. Do you have any reference tracks you are trying to emulate in the sound of the mix?
