Interview with Kléos Music

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Right now, we’re working with international artists on both mixing and mastering projects, as well as developing our own original productions. Our current focus includes electronic genres like deep house, tropical house, and chill, always aiming to deliver a polished, professional sound that stands out on every platform.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: We work fully in the digital domain, using top-tier plugins and mastering tools that provide precision, recall, and flexibility. This allows us to adapt quickly to each project and maintain consistency across different formats and platforms. That said, we deeply appreciate the warmth and character of analog gear, and we constantly strive to capture that musicality in our digital workflow. For us, it's not about the tools, it's about the result.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: We promise to treat every song with the same care and dedication as if it were our own. Our goal is to enhance, not change, your artistic vision, and to deliver a master that’s loud, clean, balanced, and ready for any platform. We’re committed to open communication, fast turnaround, and revisions if needed. If you're not happy, we're not done.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: What we love the most is helping artists bring their vision to life. There’s something incredibly rewarding about taking a finished mix and elevating it, giving it that final touch so it connects emotionally and sounds its best everywhere. Being part of the final step in the creative process, and knowing that our work contributes to how people experience music, is what keeps us passionate every day.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: One of the most common questions we get is: “How loud should I leave my mix before sending it for mastering?” Our answer: leave enough headroom, ideally peaks around -6 dB, and avoid limiting or compression on the master bus unless it's essential to your sound. We prefer to receive a clean, dynamic mix so we can work freely and get the best possible result. Other common questions include delivery formats (we usually provide WAV 24-bit + MP3 320kbps) and turnaround time (typically 2–3 days per track).

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: That mastering is just about making a track louder. In reality, mastering is about balance, translation, and final polish. It's the last creative and technical step to ensure the music sounds its best everywhere, from headphones to clubs to streaming platforms. It’s also a misconception that a ‘bad mix’ can be fixed in mastering. While we can enhance and optimize, a solid mix is essential for great results. Mastering reveals what’s already there, it doesn’t replace the mix process.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: We usually ask: What’s the final use of the track? (Streaming, vinyl, club, etc.) Do you have any loudness targets in mind? Are there any reference tracks you'd like us to keep in mind? Do you have a version of the mix without limiting on the master bus? What do you want the listener to feel when hearing your track? These questions help us understand both the technical and emotional goals of the project, so we can deliver a master that’s not just polished, but also meaningful. If possible, please send in Wav or Flacc format.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Make sure the provider truly understands your genre and shares your vision for the final sound. Communication is key — don’t be afraid to share references or explain what feeling you want your track to convey. Also, check their audio samples and credits to ensure consistency and quality across different projects. A good mastering engineer won’t just make your track louder — they’ll help it connect emotionally and sound its best on every platform and device.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: We've been working in music production and mastering for over 9 years. What started as a deep passion for sound design and mixing evolved into a dedicated focus on mastering, refining tracks to their final form with precision and care. Over the years, we’ve collaborated with artists from all over the world, across genres like deep house, tropical house, EDM, and more. With each project, we’ve honed our critical listening, technical workflow, and understanding of how music connects emotionally with the listener. Today, mastering is not just our job, it’s our craft.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Our style is clean, warm, and emotionally transparent. We focus on preserving the artist’s original intention while enhancing clarity, depth, and loudness. Whether it’s a club-ready deep house track or a chill, melodic tune, our goal is always the same: to deliver a polished, balanced master that translates beautifully across all platforms and playback systems. We combine technical precision with musical sensitivity, because great mastering is not just about volume, it’s about connection.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: We’d love to work with artists like Kygo, OneRepublic, and Lost Frequencies. Their productions are sonically rich, emotionally powerful, and incredibly well-crafted, blending organic elements with electronic textures in a way that resonates worldwide. Their sound aligns closely with the kind of music we specialize in mastering, where clarity, warmth, and melodic impact are key. Collaborating on projects like theirs would be a great fit for our aesthetic and approach.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Always leave enough headroom in your mix before sending it to mastering, ideally peaking around -6 dBFS with no limiting or heavy compression on the master bus. This gives us the space we need to enhance the track without compromising dynamics or tonal balance. Also, trust your ears over meters. A well-balanced mix emotionally and sonically will always translate better than one that only looks perfect on a spectrum analyzer.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: We specialize in mastering electronic music, particularly within genres like Deep House, Tropical House, Chill House, Afro House, EDM and others. Our work often involves tracks that are rich in groove, atmosphere, and melodic elements, where clarity, warmth, and impact are essential. Having worked on numerous releases within these styles, we understand the nuances and sonic expectations of each genre, ensuring every master translates well on streaming platforms, clubs, and festivals alike.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Our strongest skill is finding the perfect balance between technical precision and musicality. We know how to bring out the best in a mix by enhancing clarity, dynamics, and tonal balance, always serving the emotion of the track. With deep knowledge of loudness standards, frequency control, and stereo imaging, we make sure every master sounds powerful, clean, and consistent across all platforms and systems.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: We bring clarity, depth, and loudness, without compromising the original vibe of the track. Our approach is focused on enhancing the emotional and sonic impact of each song, making sure it sounds polished, cohesive, and competitive across all platforms and playback systems. With trained ears, professional-grade tools, and a finely tuned studio environment, we ensure that every master delivers power, balance, and fidelity while respecting the artist’s creative intent.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: Our process starts with carefully listening to the mix and identifying its strengths and any areas that may need attention. We then prepare the track for mastering by setting gain staging, applying transparent EQ, dynamic control, stereo enhancement, and final limiting using high-end plugins from FabFilter, iZotope, Waves, UAD, and others. We constantly check loudness using Youlean Loudness Meter to meet the LUFS standards required by each platform. Throughout the process, we aim to enhance the emotional impact of the music while ensuring clarity, balance, and professional-level loudness. Every decision we make is focused on preserving the artist’s vision and making sure the track translates well across all systems.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: Our studio is fully acoustically treated for precision and consistency. It features broadband absorbers, slotted wood diffuser panels, custom bass traps, and a wooden floor optimized for frequency absorption. Monitoring is handled with Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro headphones and KRK studio monitors, powered by an Audient audio interface with transparent conversion. We work in FL Studio and rely on a wide range of professional tools including FabFilter, iZotope (Tonal Balance Control, Ozone), Waves, Soundtoys, Plugin Alliance, and UAD plugins. Throughout the mastering process, we constantly verify loudness using Youlean Loudness Meter to ensure every track meets the platform-specific LUFS requirements — whether it’s for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or others. This workflow guarantees final masters that sound great and remain consistent across all listening environments.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: I specialize in mastering tracks for digital platforms, ensuring loudness, clarity, and dynamic balance. My goal is to help artists release music that sounds polished, competitive, and translates well across all listening environments, from headphones to club systems. I often work with electronic, indie, and pop artists, both for final release masters and label submissions.
