Interview with Debojyoti

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Let silence speak. Don’t be afraid of space—sometimes the absence of sound says more than any instrument. Use dynamics like a storyteller uses pauses—strategically, emotionally, and with intent.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I dive into film scores, background scores (BGM), experimental soundscapes, and hybrid orchestral-electronic compositions. I enjoy crafting sonic experiences that challenge conventions but still hit emotionally.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: I excel at fusing emotion with innovation—whether it's composing a sweeping orchestral cue or designing gritty textures from scratch. My real strength lies in seamlessly bridging the worlds of traditional scoring and modern sound design to create something uniquely cinematic.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: Every project starts with a deep dive into the client’s vision—what they want to feel, what story they want to tell. Then I move into creating rough ideas, sharing snippets for feedback, and fine-tuning until everything feels right. I keep communication open the whole way to make sure we're always aligned.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I work out of a hybrid setup that combines the best of digital and analog. My main DAWs are Logic Pro and Ableton Live. I use top-tier virtual instruments and synths, high-quality audio interfaces, and reference monitors that help me mix and master with precision. It’s a space built for both creativity and detail.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I’ve been deeply influenced by A.R. Rahman’s emotional depth, Hans Zimmer’s powerful orchestration, and Trent Reznor’s bold, experimental style. Their unique approaches constantly push me to evolve my own sound and stay creative.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I mainly work on background scores, sound design, and full music production for films, short films, animations, and commercials. I love shaping the emotional tone of a scene—whether it’s a dramatic film moment or a quirky animation. My goal is always to enhance the storytelling through music.

  15. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  16. A: 🎵 Debojyoti Kar – Composer & Sound Designer 🎵 I am a seasoned music composer and sound designer specializing in crafting immersive audio experiences for animation and film. Notably, I collaborated with ABF Animation Bangla, contributing to projects that have collectively garnered over 3 million views. Highlighted Works: "Nishi Rater Rohosyo Golpo" An engaging horror story where I provided the background score and sound effects, enhancing the eerie atmosphere. Watch on YouTube "Bhooter Golpo" A captivating ghost tale enriched by my background music and Foley work, adding depth to the narrative. Watch on YouTube Beyond animation, I composed and arranged the song "Moner Moto Pagol Pelam Na" in collaboration with Iman Chakraborty in 2022. 17. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  18. A: At the moment, I’m actively working on original background scores and sound design for a cartoon YouTube channel, where I handle BGM, Foley, and voiceovers. Alongside that, I’m developing instrumental tracks tailored for short films and indie creators, while also offering podcast and audiobook audio editing using FL Studio. I'm open and available for new collaborations—especially ones that need immersive soundscapes and tight storytelling through music.

  19. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  20. A: I don’t have specific recommendations from SoundBetter yet, but I always encourage clients to choose collaborators based on their unique style and project needs. If you’re looking for a particular service—whether it’s vocalists, mixing engineers, or instrumentalists—I can help evaluate potential options based on their portfolios. Let me know what you need!

  21. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  22. A: Both have their strengths, but I prefer digital for its flexibility, precision, and efficiency in modern music production. Digital tools allow for seamless editing, recallability, and unlimited creative possibilities while maintaining high fidelity. That said, analog has its charm—warmth, character, and organic imperfections that many artists love. I often blend both worlds, using analog elements where warmth and depth are needed while leveraging digital for workflow and innovation.
