Hi! I'm Lucas – a passionate and detail-driven music professional with years of experience in mixing, mastering, vocal editing & tuning, songwriting (lyrics and music), and session guitar work. I also offer podcast editing and mastering, though my heart beats strongest when I'm deep into music production.
My musical DNA is rooted in rock, pop rock, metal, punk, and blues, with strong influences from Foo Fighters, Sleep Token, Green Day, Salmo, and beyond. I also work comfortably across genres like pop, hip hop, rap, and R&B.

Interview with Lucas NFR
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as dynamic, versatile, and emotionally-driven. I focus on crafting a sound that not only highlights the technical aspects of the music but also brings out the emotional depth of a song. Whether I'm working on a powerful rock track or a more laid-back R&B song, my goal is always to create something that feels authentic and connected to the artist's vision. I approach each project with an open mind, adapting to the specific needs of the track. My style is all about finding the perfect balance between creativity and precision, making sure every element—whether it’s the vocals, the instrumentation, or the overall vibe—fits together seamlessly. I aim to bring out the essence of the song while giving it a polished, professional sound. In the end, my style is all about creating music that feels real, resonates emotionally, and stands out sonically, no matter the genre.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on a wide variety of genres, but my focus tends to be on rock, pop rock, pop, metal, punk, rap, hip-hop, blues, and R&B. These are the genres that I connect with the most, both creatively and technically. I’ve worked on projects ranging from high-energy rock anthems to smooth, soulful ballads and everything in between. While these genres are where I feel most at home, I’m always open to exploring new styles and pushing the boundaries of sound. My approach is always driven by the song itself, rather than sticking strictly to one genre. Whether I’m mixing, mastering, or producing, my goal is to bring out the essence of the music and serve the artist’s vision, regardless of the genre.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my ability to blend technical expertise with creativity, allowing me to bring out the best in every song while staying true to the artist’s vision. I have an innate musical drive that pushes me to focus on every detail, ensuring that each element of a track—whether it's the mix, the arrangement, or the overall vibe—works harmoniously together. I’m also deeply attuned to emotional expression in music. I don’t just focus on the technical aspects; I strive to create a sound that resonates emotionally with the listener. Whether it's the energy of a rock anthem or the subtlety of a delicate ballad, my goal is always to enhance the emotional impact of the track and give it a unique identity. Additionally, my ability to adapt to various genres and styles—while maintaining the integrity of the song—is something I pride myself on. I approach every project with an open mind and a deep commitment to finding the best possible outcome for the artist and their music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I bring to a song is a blend of technical skill, creativity, and a deep understanding of the emotional core of the music. I strive to capture the essence of the song and enhance it, ensuring that every element—from the arrangement to the final mix—serves the song's story and the artist’s vision. With my background in diverse genres, I bring a versatility that allows me to adapt to the specific needs of each track. Whether it’s crafting a powerful rock anthem, a smooth pop ballad, or a gritty hip-hop track, I approach each song with an open mind and a focus on bringing out its best qualities. I focus on creating a dynamic sound that resonates with the listener, making sure the vocals shine, the instruments are balanced, and every element contributes to the overall vibe. My goal is to give each song its own unique identity, making sure it stands out while still feeling true to the artist’s message and style. In addition to my technical expertise, I bring with me an innate musical drive—an intense passion that pushes me to constantly seek the best version of every song. This drive is both my greatest strength and, at times, my greatest challenge, as it fuels my constant need to perfect every detail and deliver a sound that is both professional and emotionally engaging. I also bring a deep understanding of how to make a song translate well across different formats and systems, ensuring it sounds as great on a small speaker as it does in a studio environment. My work is all about attention to detail, emotional connection, and creating a sound that is not only professional but deeply expressive.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is a blend of creativity, collaboration, and technical precision, ensuring that every project gets the attention it deserves while staying true to the artist’s vision. Initial Consultation and Pre-Production: Every project begins with a conversation to understand the artist’s goals, musical style, and any specific ideas they have in mind. I like to discuss the overall direction of the track, whether it’s about finding the perfect sound or enhancing a pre-recorded performance. This helps me align with their vision and ensures we’re on the same page from the start. Mixing: Once I have all the necessary materials, I dive straight into the mixing process. I focus on blending all elements of the track, ensuring that the vocals, instruments, and effects are balanced and the song tells its story effectively. Using high-quality plugins like iZotope, Waves, and UAD, I carefully shape each layer of the track to bring out its best characteristics. The goal is to create a dynamic and cohesive mix that serves the song while staying true to the artist’s intentions. Mastering: After the mix is complete, I move on to mastering. I focus on polishing the track, ensuring it sounds great on all types of sound systems, from car speakers to high-end audio setups. Using tools like iZotope Ozone and my Infinity 1500 and JBL LX5 monitors, I refine the track with EQ, compression, and stereo enhancement to ensure it translates perfectly across all platforms. Feedback and Revisions: Throughout the process, I encourage ongoing communication with the artist. This ensures that I’m capturing their vision and making adjustments based on their feedback. I’m committed to making the track exactly what they want, so I provide revisions until we achieve the perfect final version. Final Delivery: Once everything is polished and perfected, I deliver the final versions of the track in the required formats, ready for release on any platform or medium. My process combines technical expertise with a passion for music and an adaptable approach, tailored to each artist's needs and creative goals.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of a fully equipped home studio, designed to provide the flexibility and precision needed for both creative and technical aspects of music production. At the heart of my setup is Cubase 12 Elements, paired with my Steinberg audio interface, which allows for smooth recording and mixing. I rely on a wide range of high-quality plugins, including Waves Ultimate Access, UAD, Slate Digital, iZotope, Analog Obsession, Auto-Tune Unlimited, and Brainworx, to ensure every detail is captured and perfected in my mixes. For vocal and instrument recording, I use the AKG P220 microphone, which captures clear and accurate sound, and I monitor everything through ATH-M40x headphones to ensure precision. My monitors are a combination of Infinity 1500 and JBL LX5, with two separate pre-amplifiers (Onkyo A-9511 and Technics SU-V505) that deliver excellent sound quality for both mixing and mastering. I also use the Technics SH-8020 Stereo Frequency Equalizer to fine-tune my mixes and ensure they sound great across all systems. For virtual instruments, I have an extensive collection, including LABS VST, Crow Hill Vaults VST, Sine Player, Komplete Start, Analog Lab V, and other premium options like Guitar Rig 7, Amplitube 5 MAX, SVX, and EZ Drummer 3, all of which provide a vast palette of sounds and textures for creating dynamic tracks. On the guitar side, I work with a variety of electric guitars and pedals, covering everything from classic rock tones to modern sounds. I use high-quality analog effects and pedals to add depth and character to my recordings. Whether it’s for clean, ambient sounds or powerful, distorted riffs, my gear helps me shape the perfect tone for each song. This setup allows me to approach each project with precision, whether I’m mixing, mastering, or creating original music, ensuring high-quality results that stay true to the artist’s vision.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by a wide range of musicians and producers who push the boundaries of sound and creativity. Along with the artists I mentioned earlier, like Foo Fighters, Sleep Token, Green Day, Salmo, and others, I draw a lot of inspiration from musicians like Nuno Bettencourt for his impeccable guitar skills, Randy Rhoads for his innovative approach to rock guitar, Kurt Cobain for his raw emotion and revolutionary impact on grunge, Billie Joe Armstrong for his punk rock energy and songwriting, and Cesare Cremonini for his versatility as an artist. As for producers, I greatly admire Carl Brown for his nuanced mixing and production style, Rob Cavallo for his work with Green Day and other legendary acts, and of course, Rick Rubin for his ability to create timeless, genre-defying records with such a minimalistic approach. These artists and producers inspire me to always push my creative boundaries, blend different genres, and craft music that is both powerful and deeply personal. I strive to bring the same level of passion, innovation, and authenticity to every project I work on.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients involves mixing and mastering tracks across a wide range of genres, from rock and metal to pop, hip-hop, and R&B. I work closely with artists to bring out the best in their sound, making sure every element of the track is balanced, polished, and serves the song's emotional core. In addition to mixing and mastering, I often handle vocal editing and tuning to ensure clarity and precision, as well as provide session guitar work when the song calls for it. I also enjoy collaborating on songwriting, whether it's crafting melodies, writing lyrics, or helping to shape the overall structure of the song to fit the artist’s vision. Though every project is unique, my approach is always the same: listening carefully to the artist’s goals and making sure the final product is as polished, dynamic, and true to their vision as possible.
