Endorse Schaltgeraete StudiosWe hired Bernhard for the mastering of our upcoming electronic Pyrame/Semodi EP which will appear digitally and on vinyl. Bernhard did a great job in balancing out the tracks and giving the album a nice and warm character. And this task was hard to begin with as we had different mixers and re-mixers for each track. So the mixes sounded very different in the beginning.
Bernhard made the whole thing sound like one record by bringing all the tracks to the same level without taking away character or individuality of the tracks.

Great job!Bernhard has mastered our latest EP, both digital and for vinyl production, and the result is really outstanding. Mastering is a critical part of the release and I can honestly say that the outcome is top-notched. I can only recommend.
Working with Schaltgeraete Studios was such a bliss. I appreciated working with them a Lot: they were always reachable and open to my ideas and needs. The process of mixing and mastering can sometimes be draining and long, however I always felt being taken care of and them putting in the extra effort through out the whole process. Very much recommended!!!
Interview with Schaltgeraete Studios
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: critical listening and developing new problem solving strategies with the same gear for every song. We don't use method A-C, we come up with new strategies for every song we master or mix.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Our philosophy is to first clean up what is hindering the song to lift up. This might be bass notes that are 3 times louder than other bass notes or a 500 Hz resonance on a vocal. Then we embellish the emotion of the song by using our gear in creative ways and sometimes we might automate gain into compression for added energy in the chorus.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: The mastering studio is a custom designed room in room construction by acoustic designer Guido Apke. We handbill everything in order to afford this space. Sonics was the only criteria. With soffit mounted speakers, an incredibly flat frequency response down to 29 Hz and top notch mastering and mixing gear we are very proud to have fulfilled this dream of a studio we work in every day.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We are a team of three audio professionals with very different expertises. We formed a studio company together to inspire ourselves each and every day. With our studios we attract lots of producers, musicians and film makers which transforms our studio spaces into a creative hub we are very proud of.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Since we handbill our dedicated mastering room with soffit mounted ATC speakers, most of our work is stereo mastering and stem mastering. My colleague Anna von Hammerstein handles Dolby Atmos mixes.
