Interview with ROZYO

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of producing Summertime Sadness, where I shaped the track from start to finish, and contributing to the Satisfaction (Zamna Soundsystem Remix) alongside the main team. I’ve also worked on high-end ghost production for labels like Afterlife and Zamna, I can’t reveal the projects, but they pushed me creatively and technically, and taught me how to deliver music at the highest level.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment, I’m working on a few new melodic techno and progressive house tracks for upcoming releases, along with some ghost production projects. I’m also exploring fresh sound design ideas and collaborating with artists on projects that bring together different styles, including some exciting work with vocalists and fellow producers in the melodic techno scene.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don’t know anyone personally on SoundBetter, but I’m aware there are many talented engineers and producers on the platform. From what I’ve seen, it’s a great place for clients to find skilled professionals.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I use both analog and digital because each has its strengths. Analog gives warmth, character, and hands-on control, while digital offers precision, flexibility, and endless creative possibilities. Combining them lets me get the best of both worlds and craft the sound I want

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to clients is simple: I deliver high-quality, original music that captures their vision, on time and with precision. I’m fully committed to making sure every track not only meets expectations but elevates their sound.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my job is bringing someone else’s vision to life. Taking an idea and turning it into a track that resonates with people is incredibly rewarding, and it also pushes me creatively every time

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients usually ask if I can match a certain style, if the track will be original, how long it will take, and if revisions are possible. My answer is simple: I adapt references while keeping it unique, every track is fully original, I work fast and precisely to meet deadlines, and I make sure you’re happy with the final result. revisions are part of the process until it’s perfect.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that ghost production is just ‘making a track for someone else.’ In reality, it’s about understanding an artist’s vision and identity, and bringing it to life with precision and creativity. It’s not just technical work, it’s a creative partnership, even if my name isn’t on the release

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What kind of sound/genre are you aiming for? Do you have reference tracks or artists you’d like me to draw inspiration from? I don’t usually ask about deadlines or whether to send project files or mastered stems. as a ghost producer, those details are obvious to me. When it comes to deadlines, I work fast and with precision to make sure everything is delivered on point.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone who treats your track as if it were their own. A good ghost producer should understand your sound, respect your identity, and deliver a project you can fully own. Make sure they’re open to feedback and revisions, it’s about building your career, not just handing over a file.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Honestly, with today’s technology you can make music anywhere. Even on a deserted island, all I’d need is a laptop, headphones, and a sound card. with that minimal setup, everything is achievable!

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: My studio setup features Eve Audio SC307 monitors and a Babyface Pro FS sound card for precise audio clarity. The studio itself is a fully treated room, ensuring optimal acoustics and an accurate listening environment for all my productions. I also use a range of analog synths like the Moog Sub 37 and Arturia MiniBrute for creating unique textures and sounds, along with Ableton Live 12 to tie everything together. This setup allows me to achieve the highest level of quality and precision in every track.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I’ve been producing music for over a decade, starting out with a deep passion for electronic sounds and a drive to create unique tracks that stand out. My career began with honing my skills in sound design, mixing, and mastering, and over time, I developed a distinctive style that blends melodic techno and progressive house. After some initial releases, I landed a spot on Zamna Records, which was a huge milestone in my journey. From there, my music gained traction and started getting supported by top-tier DJs at major festivals. I had the honor of playing at Hi Ibiza, Zamna Brazil, Zamna Tulum, and Afterlife Tulum, performing my sets for audiences that share the same passion for deep, cinematic, and energetic techno. I also contributed to the production of a track for Afterlife, expanding my experience and network. Throughout my career, I’ve continued to refine my craft, always striving to evolve and push the boundaries of what I can create.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: My style is clubby, bouncy, and energetic with a focus on driving grooves and infectious basslines. I blend melodic techno with progressive house, creating tracks that keep the energy high and the dancefloor moving. It’s intense yet uplifting, designed to bring both atmosphere and movement to the club.

  30. A: I’d love to work with Skrillex. His innovative approach to sound design and ability to blend genres like dubstep, techno, and experimental music is incredibly inspiring. Collaborating with him would allow me to push my boundaries creatively and explore new sonic landscapes, combining his forward-thinking production style with my melodic techno influences to create something fresh and exciting.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Always think like a DJ first, then a producer. When creating your tracks, focus on how they’ll feel in a live setting—how they’ll flow, build energy, and connect with the crowd. This DJ mindset helps shape your production decisions, ensuring your music resonates with audiences and fits seamlessly into sets.

  34. A: Melodic House & Techno, Afro House, Progressive House

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

My aim is to ensure every track has a distinctive emotional narrative and a powerful sonic impact, making it both engaging and memorable.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: When working with a client, my process starts with understanding their vision and goals. I take the time to discuss their musical ideas and the sound they want to achieve. Once we’re aligned, I dive into sound design and arrangement, ensuring every element fits together seamlessly. I focus on building energetic, club-ready grooves with an emphasis on melodic and atmospheric elements that resonate on the dancefloor. Throughout the process, I incorporate mixing as I go, ensuring clarity and depth in every track. After the composition is finalized, I move on to mastering to give the track a polished, professional sound. I keep the client involved throughout, making sure to iterate and refine based on feedback until we achieve the final result. My goal is to deliver a track that not only meets but exceeds expectations, ensuring it’s ready for the club or festival stage.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I draw inspiration from artists and producers who push the boundaries of melodic techno and progressive house. Tale of Us is a major influence, especially with their cinematic and emotional approach to sound design. Mind Against, ARTBAT, and Kevin de Vries also inspire me with their ability to blend deep atmospheres with driving energy. On the production side, I admire Stephan Bodzin for his analog sound design and Hans Zimmer for his orchestral storytelling, which influences my approach to building tension and emotion in electronic music.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients involves music production, mixing, and sound design—helping them craft high-quality tracks that stand out in the melodic techno and progressive house scenes. I assist in refining arrangements, enhancing sound quality, and ensuring tracks meet industry standards for labels like Zamna and Afterlife. Whether it's ghost production, co-production, or final mix/mastering tweaks, I help artists elevate their music to a professional level, making it club and festival-ready.
