Interview with Kimberly Rozay

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m really proud of my debut single, which I made during a particularly difficult time in my life. I was going through a dark time I didn’t think I’d get out of, but I used that pain to fuel my creativity. The song became a way for me to heal, and I’m so proud of the work I put into it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m working on a personal project about mental health, which is something I deeply relate to. I want to create music that speaks to those struggling with their mental well-being and let them know they’re not alone.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I’m just starting on SoundBetter, so I haven’t had the chance to work with or get to know many providers yet. However, I’m excited to connect with other talented professionals as I grow my network here!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I prefer digital for its flexibility and convenience. I can quickly adjust tracks, experiment with different sounds, and collaborate remotely.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to give my best in every project I work on. I am dedicated to making sure your music sounds the best it can be and that the final product reflects your vision and emotions.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most is the ability to connect with people through music. Whether it’s a song about love, struggle, or joy, music has the power to speak to the soul, and I’m grateful I get to share that experience with others

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: What vocal styles are you capable of? Answer: I can adapt to various vocal styles. Can you write lyrics or melodies for me? Answer: Yes, I can help with both writing lyrics and creating melodies. If you need assistance with songwriting, just let me know. Can you help with mixing or mastering my vocals? Answer: No. But I can recommend someone who will ensure the best quality possible.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: A common misconception is that vocalists are only there to sing the lyrics and that our job stops after recording. But there’s much more to it! We bring life to the music through emotion, timing, and delivery, and we also play a part in shaping the song’s direction.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What’s the vision or theme for the song? Is there a specific mood or emotion you want to evoke with the song? What kind of vocal arrangement are you looking for? Are there any specific lyrics, melodies, or hooks that you want me to focus on or collaborate on?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice is to be clear about your vision for the song. Share your inspiration, any reference tracks, and the emotions you want to evoke. This helps me align with your ideas and deliver the best performance possible.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My microphone, audio interface, A portable speaker, and a laptop and a power bank, so I’m not stuck without battery!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
