Interview with Nizeplaynogames
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Am really proud of a lot of projects I've worked on but the best is an unreleased featuring two big afrobeat giants Joeboy and Fireboy. I produced the beats on that project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On songs that have been given to me by my clients.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Matty Harris.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A mixture of both but if I had to choose it would be digital cause of its flexibility.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to deliver quality on time.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the process in general, I really love bringing all the elements together to create a polished, cohesive sound that truly enhances the artist's vision. One of the best part of my job also is seeing the artists reaction when they hear the final mix.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long will it take to finish the project? I usually answer by saying typically, a single track takes me 24 hours to 3 days to mix/master, but for larger projects like albums, it may take 2 weeks to a month, and the timeline can vary depending on complexity and revisions needed.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That's its so easy cause I deliver quality in a short time frame not knowing that its only possible cause of the 8 years of hard and consistent work I've put in.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the genre of your music/project? What is the overall mood or vibe you're going for? How many tracks are you working with? What format are your audio files in? What type of sound are you going for in the final product? What is your timeline or deadline for the project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't hesitate to state exactly what you want or expect from the job. Just state your vision clearly and be prepared to be blown away.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop cause that's where most of my work is done, my SSL 2+ Mark II to be able to connect the laptop to my headphones and microphone, my Dt770 Pro Headphones so I can mix accurately, my Rode Nt 2A so I can record ideas cause there would be a lot and finally my 1tb SSD Hard drive cause ill need so much space for all the magic ill be creating there.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been producing music for over 8 years now and within that time frame I've worked with a huge number Industry standard artists across the globe.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as balanced, transparent, and tailored to the artist’s vision. I like to approach each project with a fresh perspective, ensuring that every mix and master maintains the integrity of the song while enhancing its emotional impact.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Burnaboy cause of his versatility and I believe his talent along side my creativity would be amazing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Gain staging in mono is a cheat code and if you master that, your mixes will be much more cleaner and also balanced.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Afro Beat, Trap, Hiphop, RnB, Dance Hall and Country Music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill as a mixing and mastering engineer is my ability to critically listen and translate that into a sound that aligns with the artist’s vision while maintaining technical excellence. I’m particularly strong at balancing elements in a track so that it sounds clear and cohesive across all listening platforms.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity and creativity to a song. Once a client gives me permission to be creative I go all out. Am also known for doing extra production on songs.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I get a Gig, I discuss the vision of the song with the artist or client to know their goal and once everything is agreed upon, the work begins and would be ready in 1 to 3 days. The file I prefer to work with are WAV stems exported in 24bits. Am known to be very efficient and deliver high quality work for my clients.
