Interview with frankie FAHIYM
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I was on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, I'd bring my laptop, a portable solar charger, headphones with a built-in mic, and my beat machine. I'll also bring some comfortable clothes (basketball shorts) and an external hard drive to store all the recordings I made throughout the day.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path begins with me working towards becoming a well-known artist, and I had a strategy that I compared to fishing – attracting listeners with my songs and then showcasing my true artistry. However, I struggled to stay consistent with releasing music, which hindered my progress. Over time, I realized that I'm more suited to being a DIY artist. I've dedicated myself to learning the ins and outs of music production, allowing me to have full control over my creative output. And here I am today, 17 years later, still pursuing my passion for music.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm most proud of my debut album, "Certificate of Birth." It's essentially a musical biography of my life, and I'm particularly proud of it because it's the first project I completed entirely by myself – from the arrangement and beats to the lyrics, artwork, and mixdown. And I can confidently say that every word on the album is COMPLETELY TRUE, with no fabrication. Even though, I believe the mix could have been improved (shame on me LOL), I wouldn't trade the experience and accomplishment of creating this album for anything. It holds a special place in my heart.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm excited to share that I'm currently working on two new songs. They're a bit unique in that they don't fit neatly into one genre. Both the lyrics and production are a mashup of different styles, which I think makes them really interesting. I'm eager to get your feedback on them when the time is right.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I'm sure there are many talented producers and songwriters on Soundbetter that I am already familiar with. And if they aren't already on the platform, I will encourage them to create a profile.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: One frequent question is about the genres of music I can produce and compose. My answer always emphasizes that I'm versatile and open to exploring various styles, encouraging them not to make assumptions based on first impressions. Another common inquiry revolves around my work process and how I collaborate with artists. I explain my focus on open communication, active listening, and finding common ground to ensure the final product reflects both our visions.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I primarily choose digital tools because that's what I'm most comfortable and experienced with. It also offers greater flexibility and portability. While digital is my current focus, I'm confident that I could adapt to an analog setup if needed. I believe my strong listening skills and musical intuition would guide me, even with a learning curve.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to assure clients that I'm committed to providing ABOVE satisfactory service on every project we work on together. I promise to hold up my end of the deal and bring positive energy to every interaction we have.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Something that I find truly special about music and the creative process is the freedom that creating brings and the unique form of expression it allows. It's amazing to think that through my music, I can share a message with someone who might otherwise have just passed me by.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what i do is, many people assume the genres of music I can produce and compose based on initial impressions. However, I believe that it's important not to judge a book by its cover. I'm capable of working across a wide range of musical styles and I'm always open to exploring new sounds.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: The questions I typically ask prospective clients: * What is your overall vision for the project? * What are your musical influences and preferences? * What is your timeline and budget for the project? * Have you worked with a producer before? If so, what was your experience like? These questions help me to understand their needs and expectations, and to ensure that we're a good fit for each other.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

I'm confident that my perspective will be a valuable asset to any collaboration.
