Interview with Bechara
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of that fashion show music I did a few months ago for a clothing brand from my home country (Lebanon) that was going to be introduced in Paris. It was 15 minutes, very challenging, but I managed to make it fun and not progressive.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on my personal artist account, as a Techno producer, but with a twist ;)
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Unfortunately no, but I would love to meet people here!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog synthesizers are better than digital ones, it offers a wider and fuller sound with a higher dynamic range. But digital plugins are not bad at all and sometimes are better than analog gear specially because they don't have floor noise. Mastering is always better with analog gear for that higher dynamic range.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise HIGH QUALITY tracks no matter what genre (EDM). I will put all my skills into the projects!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the endless creativity in music production. U can turn any sound and any frequency to anything, I love how wide the industry is and how you can always find a way to be unique.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Most customers ask for the project files. I usually send it, depending on the project.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I usually don't face that problem, but sometimes old people think that I only DJ but i actually produce more than I DJ.. I think all producers face that misconception lol.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: for Production services I always ask for references!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Respect is everything to me, be respectful and we will make the best deal of your life!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Our Genelec speakers, an RME, a Laptop, a bettermaker mastering compressor and a guitar!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started making music in 2020 when quarantined. I used to and still do make music everyday from Summer 2020 till now. I joined college in my home town in 2021 but then dropped out 2 years later because I felt like I wasn't learning anything, and I was right.. Last summer we opened our studio by only making music and here we are now a year later with over 8 million streams.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is kind of a mix between driving techno and trancey uplifting music, with some cinematic elements.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would go with my Idol Martin Garrix. This guy is a melody genius and the reason why I started making music. If we can blend a powerful techno track with the beautiful melodies and emotions he comes up with we can make a totally new genre.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Experiment a lot. Remaking your favorite tracks or tweaking a sample or preset until you come up with something original. This helped me A LOT throughout my career.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Techno, House (progressive, Future, Afro..), Cinematic as I mentioned earlier before for commercials.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill without doubt is my sound designs and the ability to put any idea from my head into the DAW in a fast period of time. I'm also skilled at mixing and mastering my own songs, I easily push my tracks to a loud level while preserving a high dynamic range.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Uplifting energy definitely. I'm very known for my uplifting melodies and my production tricks for ear candy. I really like to focus on taking people into an emotion rollercoaster.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually start by making a heavy groove when I produce Techno music, then I fill out a driving energetic drop, after that I focus on making emotional breakdowns to build up some tension leading into the second drop. As for when I make house or cinematic music for commercials and shows, I usually start with a beautiful chord progression that fits the mood requested.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have an RME soundcard with Genelec studio monitors chasing the flat response :) A high end laptop. Bought the Waves 15 Bundle plugins and all the Ozone plugins as well. 1 acoustic fender guitar and 1 electric guitar. Avantone Pro CK 6 Plus microphone.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Martin Garrix, Space 92, Anyma, Deadmau5...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly produce music for myself and with my partner as 96ONE. I also do music for fashion commercials, and recently I did a whole 15mins fashion show music.
