Interview with Jerry The Clown

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: It would be my own project that is a cross between HipHop and Emo Rap. I’m very proud of the mixing on the track. I recently changed the way I mix and it has resulted in a huge difference in the quality of my mixes

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m working on one of my own songs that is a cross between HipHop and Emo Rap. Additionally I’m mixing 2 tracks for 2 clients

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I’m new to SoundBetter so sadly I don’t currently know anyone on this platform

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I personally prefer digital for the sake of workflow

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will always keep working on your track until you are happy with it, no exceptions. You’re paying me for my time so I’ll give as much time as needed until the client is happy with the project

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Being able to connect with and learn from other artists, producers and mixing engineers

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Can you make something in the style of (artist name)? Of course, I will add slight wrist on it to make sure you still have your own sound

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing isn’t an in depth and technical process

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Give me as much information as possible about the sound you want to capture in your track.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Take your time to look at multiple engineers or producers offering a similar service to ensure you find exactly what your looking for

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A laptop, a Scarlett solo, a Shure SM7B, a cloud lifter, DT 990 pro headphones

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started producing 7 years ago and started learning to mix over a year ago. My goal is to connect with artists to release music the artist and the public enjoy

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Typically the tracks I produce are known for their very upfront 808s, Reese basses and/or Kicks

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I know it’s no longer a possibility bit my answer is Lil Peep. I’ve admired his music for many years and always loved hos vocal style and how open and honest he is in his lyrics

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less it more but don’t let that hold you back adding more elements

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Hiphop & Emo Rap

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my ability to never repeat the same sound, every track I work on has a unique and pleasing sound.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: The songs I produce have a unique sound that many artists I have work with have recognised. When mixing i often use creative effects to add a sheet spacial feel to the track which I feel HipHop has been lacking recently.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: After being sent a track to mix I typically drop the stems into my daw and level everything. I never mix on the first day as I spend that day listening to the dry track, writing down ideas for the next day when I come to mix it.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work from home using FL Studio for music production and Studio One for mixing. I have a wide verity of plugins to cater for every track I work on ensuring there are no limitations

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Lil peep Juice Wlrd GHOSTEMANE OMENXIII

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Producing and/or mixing Hiphop & Emo Rap songs
