Interview with mikrucio
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Connecting with new people.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: After the Tragedy of my band in the early 2000's. I eventually recovered from the ordeal and wrote a follow up album. I Wrote the album in it's entirety and then hired session musicians for all the parts, including 5 Vocalists to sing the conceptual story. The whole album took almost 5 years to make.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I produce my own pop songs, That I will pitch to potential artists looking for something different.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Audio is like a pond, An analog pond is a little murky, but you can see the bottom. Using digital the pond is crystal clear, but you can't see down to the bottom.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'm happy when you're happy.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you want to "Sound" like someone? If you do, I'm NOT your guy, I am all original. Being a musician is being true to yourself first. If you're looking to "Service" an audience, find someone else.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do it, do it now!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Korg Triton, An Xbox 360, A TV, a mixer and some speakers!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing Music Production for 32 years. I had created a band in my youth however we were met with many tragedies. Since then I'v been focused on helping people instead of focusing on myself.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Charismatic, Confident, Clear.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: People get confused by mixing, there are only 3 components to a good mix. Pan, EQ and Levels. Even a completely dry mix can sound amazing if you get these three components right. Once you do, a wet mix will sound orgasmic.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop Music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Keyboards and Music Production. I could turn your grandmother into a pop star!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Excellence.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Always start with the lyrics, I will then move to the keyboard and create the melody and chord progression for the chorus first. I will then work backwards to create the verses and then voice the song with instrumentation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run a host of vintage gear which I have had for a long time. My Primary workstation keyboard is a custom painted Korg Triton Pro Classic.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have a really high musical intellect and also high natural intelligence. As a sigma male I cut my own path in life. I don't copy. I get creative.
