Interview with Will no Beat

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: I use both, but I lean toward digital for flexibility and precision. Digital tools let me work faster, recall sessions instantly, and shape a modern, clean sound. I still use analog-style plugins for warmth and character, but digital gives me full control to match any artist’s vision.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: What I love most about my job is helping artists bring their vision to life. There’s something powerful about taking raw vocals and turning them into a polished, emotional, industry-ready song. Seeing an artist hear their track come alive for the first time — that moment is what drives me.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: The biggest misconception is that mixing and mastering can fix a poorly recorded performance. Great results start with clean recordings and clear artistic direction. My job is to enhance, polish, and elevate the song—not to replace the artist’s performance or production choices.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: I usually ask clients about their vision, reference tracks, and the emotion they want the song to convey. I also ask for the BPM, key, vocal style, and if there are any specific elements they want emphasized or avoided. Understanding their goals helps me shape the mix to match their artistic identity.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Take the time to choose someone who understands your vision. Share clear references, be open about what you want, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. A good mix is a partnership — the better the communication, the better the result. Make sure the provider values your unique sound and is committed to bringing out the best in your music.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I've been working as a music producer and mix engineer since 2017. Over the years, I've produced in a wide range of genres, including Trap, R&B, Lo-fi, Gospel, Pop, Afrobeats, and Funk. I’ve collaborated with well-known labels in Brazil such as Furacão 2000, PZ Records, and A Matilha, and I currently work closely with rising artists in the scene. With hundreds of sessions completed, I’ve developed a refined ear for vocal clarity, emotional impact, and modern production standards. My experience allows me to deliver clean, punchy, industry-ready mixes that elevate each artist’s identity.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is modern, clean, and emotional. I focus on warm low-end, clear mids, and smooth highs, creating mixes that feel polished but still natural. I love bringing depth and atmosphere without losing the artist’s authenticity. My sound blends punch, clarity, and musicality—ideal for Trap, R&B, Lo-fi, Gospel, Pop, and Afrobeats.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Always treat the vocals as the main instrument and let everything else in the beat work around it.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I usually work on Trap, R&B, Lo-fi, Pop, Gospel, and Afrobeats. Most of my clients look for warm, emotional, modern mixes with clean vocals and strong low-end, and these genres are where my sound really shines.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: My strongest skill is bringing vocals to life. I specialize in creating clean, emotional, punchy mixes where the voice sits perfectly in the track. Whether it's Trap, R&B, Lo-fi, Gospel, or Afrobeats, I know how to shape clarity, warmth, and depth so the artist’s message connects instantly.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: I bring clarity, emotion, and direction to a song. My focus is on enhancing the artist’s message while giving the track depth, warmth, and punch. I highlight the best parts of the vocals, strengthen the groove, and shape a modern, clean, industry-ready sound. Every decision I make serves the song’s emotion and the artist’s identity.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: My workflow starts with reviewing all stems, references, and the artist’s vision. I organize the session, clean the audio, tune vocals if needed, and build a balanced mix focusing on warmth, clarity, and punch. After the first mix is ready, I deliver a preview and the client can request revisions. I then finalize the mix, apply mastering, and deliver high-quality WAV/MP3 files. Throughout the process, I keep communication clear to ensure the final result matches the artist’s expectations.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: My studio is a modern, acoustically treated environment built for high-quality vocal recording, mixing, and mastering. I work with professional-grade gear, including a treated vocal booth, high-accuracy studio monitors, reference headphones, premium audio plugins (Waves, UAD, iZotope, FabFilter, SoundToys), and a powerful workstation optimized for large sessions. My setup is designed to deliver clean, warm, punchy mixes with precision and consistency across every genre I work in.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: I'm inspired by producers who deliver emotion, clarity, and unique sonic identity. Names like Noah “40” Shebib, Metro Boomin, P2J, Kuk Harrell, Mike Dean, Frank Dukes, and Illangelo influence my approach to mixing and vocal production. I also draw inspiration from modern Afrobeats producers like Juls and Sarz, and from the warm, organic sound of engineers like Manny Marroquin and MixedByAli. Their balance of creativity and technical precision helps shape the way I bring out the best in each artist.

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: I mainly work on mixing and mastering vocals and instrumentals for Trap, R&B, Lo-fi, Pop, Gospel, and Afrobeats. Most clients send raw vocal stems, and I deliver clean, punchy, radio-ready mixes with balanced low end, clear mids, and smooth highs. I also provide vocal tuning, beat enhancement, and full production polish when needed, always focusing on elevating the artist’s emotion and delivering a modern, industry-ready sound.
