My band Sick Move was ready to record our debut record “Intrusive Thoughts” we enlisted Jeremy Hayes to be our recording engineer and co-producer. After hearing numerous projects that he had a hand in recording and mixing (Mean Sea, Teen Mortgage) it was a no brainer. Jeremy lived up to and surpassed every expectation of ours. Our album would go on to receiving two nominations for 2024 “Punk album of the year” taking the #1 spot for Inspite Magazine and #3 globally for Punk Rock Magazine. Jeremy was a huge part of its success. We look forward to working Jeremy again in the future!

We've worked with Jeremy on 3 tracks and plan to do many more in the future. Jeremy always delivers the highest quality and understands our sound like no other mixing engineer has. We could not ask for anyone better to work with!

I have collaborated with Jeremy for over 20 years. He’s a professional known for taking demo quality recordings and elevating them to something special. Jeremy has always impressed me with his ability to work with a wide range of styles and skill levels. If you have a garage demo or tracks from a professional studio, you can trust Jeremy will deliver quality mixes/masters that grab the listeners attention.

Jeremy mixed my bands album, and it came out AWESOME. Since its release we have gotten numerous compliments about the mix. Jeremy puts so much time and effort into his mix, and his prices are more than fair. He was great with communication and time management for our project. It almost sounds too good for a punk bands first album. Can’t wait to work with Jeremy again, he’s the best.

Jeremy did a killer job with our EP. We've sent him several singles as well. Always easy to work with. Keeps us informed along the way and can really nail the sound you're after.

Interview with Jeremy Hayes

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Josh Homme or Trent Reznor

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: I'm a musician who's plays guitar, bass, and drums. I know what it's like to be on both sides of the console. There are few things in this world I love more than a killer drum mix. I know what it takes to get a great sounding foundation, which always starts with the drums, then bass, guitars, and so forth.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will deliver your project on time, communicate clearly, and do my absolute best with passion and excitement.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I graduated from the Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts back in 2005. I've been recording, mixing, and mastering for over 20 years.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Clear communication with attention to detail. I make aggressive in-your-face mixes that stand out from the crowd.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Reference often.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: All things alternative. Garage rock, punk, metal, hardcore.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: I'm known for taking raw basement recordings and turning them into playlist ready singles. I've taken basement recordings all the way to official Spotify playlists with over 8 million streams on a single song.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: Communication is key. I pride myself as an excellent communicator and I always do my best to make sure I am on the same page with my clients. Frequent updates, clear communication, and an organized process are a cornerstone to my work.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I operate out of my private home studio in the center of Baltimore. My studio features Barefoot monitoring, an SSL interface (32bit/192k), and a small selection of boutique amps from Friedman, Vox (handwired), and various other pieces of select outboard gear.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: I'm big fan of Brendan O'Brien. His ability to get a produced and polished sound, but still have it sound natural, raw, and in your face, always impressed me.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: Mixing and mastering, and sometimes a producer. I've been mixing for 20 years and mastering for 8 years.
