Interview with Haunted Productions

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The song that finally saw the light ons spotify, we fully produced, mixed and mastered it. It all started from a random frying eggs sample from shaperbox, ran it through a drum loop, got the CRUNCHIEST sound ever heard... And the rest is history.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Getting the rest of our music on spotify. Admin work SUCKS

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Unfortunately no, i stumbled on the platform randomly

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. analog is obsolete and clunky. Digital is more precise, and often better than the limitations of old gear.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Quality above all. And effort. A lot of effort.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The possibility of it being an outlet for what i feel.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Q: "how much will it take?" A: "It depends from how good do you want it to be and what is your budget"

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it's easy. It's not. It looks like it, but it's not. Producer cookups you see on the internet are edited. There is usually a lot of sweat, caffeine, cursing, regret, and a constant oscillation between "this will be the next Beethoven 5th symphony" and "oh god it sounds like sh*t"

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Unfortunately, it depends by how clear they were in the requests, but mostly if they have any particular wants about the piece.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Do it. Simply do it. You will be supporting a struggling artist, you will get something amazing out of it, and you will not regret spreading a bit of emotion mor in a world that desperately needs it.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: PC, Solar generator, UPS, Satellite modem and headphones.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: It all started, like all good things, casually. I found a sound from the Sounds Of KSHMR vol. 2 which i had heard before, went in a deep dive, and stayed in too deep.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: In one word: Vibes. I try to create a scenario with each and every one of my songs, i want do deliver an escapist experience to allow anybody to dissociate from this world temporarily, to slip in a reality of enjoyment which leaves them a tiny bit better than before.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Andrew Scheps and Pino Pischetola, as mastering engineers, to steal as many of their secrets as possible, Hozier, LP, the Weeknd, TheFatRat, Aaron Smith, The Chainsmokers, Halsey. Ark Patrol, Go_A, Chakra and Kenshi Yonezu as a producer/ co-producer because i love their works and it would be an honor to feature with any one of them in a song.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: There is not a "correct" way to do things. Don't listen to Reddit. If somebody tells you something is done the wrong way, but you like it that way, it's dine the right way, even if it was an accident. Lie about it and say it was intentional. Nobody will care if it sounds good.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Almost everything that can be done in-the-box. We've been experimenting with more acoustic sounding VSTs, but not being able to afford and take care of acoustic instruments is a problem sometimes

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Improvisation. 90% of the great ideas start with a mistake, don't they?

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Soul. Emotion. Raw, unadulterated feeling. Music has to pull you in, take you in a choke-hold and leave you yearning for more when it's done. If you're analyzing the song, i've done something wrong, since it has not captured you.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: 90% of the effort is in choosing what to do. kay, tempo, genre and sounds. After that, it's almost instinct

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Barebones. A Macbook, an audio interface, a pair of headphones, a midi keyboard. That is enough. We could even do without the interface and directly plug into the pc.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: L.Dre, The Glitch Mob, Andrew Huang, Venus Theory, FINNEAS... The list is almost infinite-

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: We usually produce full tracks, but we're open to collaborate with others as Mix engineers, beatmakers or mastering engineers!
