Interview with Asrdollar
- Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
- A: A track called Water for an artist named Magic Wrld. I produced, mixed, and mastered it. The song came out clean, emotional, and got great feedback from listeners.
- Q: What are you working on at the moment?
- A: New Afro-fusion projects for independent artists and my own instrumental series.
- Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
- A: not at the moment
- Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
- A: I’ll always deliver clean, industry-level sound that feels professional and fresh.
- Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
- A: They ask, “Can you make it sound like [insert artist]?” I say yes, but I’ll also give it your own identity.
- Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
- A: That beat making is just pressing keys. It’s deeper — it’s sound design, arrangement, and mixing all in one.
- Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
- A: What vibe are you going for? Any reference track? What mood do you want the beat to give?
- Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
- A: Know the sound you want, then trust the process. I’ll bring your idea to life.
- Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
- A: Laptop, FL Studio, headphones, audio interface, and mic.
- Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
- A: I started making beats years ago out of passion and turned it into a full-time thing. Been producing, mixing, and mastering for several years now.
- Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
- A: Burna Boy — his sound is global but still rooted in Africa. That’s the kind of balance I love to build.
- Q: Can you share one music production tip?
- A: Don’t overload your mix. Leave space for each sound. The cleaner your mix, the bigger it feels.
- Q: What's your strongest skill?
- A: Mixing and drum balance. I know how to make drums hit while keeping vocals clean and upfront.
- Q: What do you bring to a song?
- A: Groove, emotion, and clarity. I make sure every sound hits right and connects with listeners.
- Q: What's your typical work process?
- A: I start by understanding the artist’s vibe and what story they want to tell. Then I build a beat that fits their sound, record vocals, mix, and master. Every step stays clean and intentional.
- Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
- A: I use FL Studio with top-quality plugins, studio monitors, and a treated room for clean mixes. Everything runs through a reliable audio interface and a solid PC setup.
- Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
- A: I produce and mix Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, and Hip-hop tracks. Most artists come to me for full production — from building the beat to mixing and mastering it clean and loud.
- Q: Analog or digital and why?
- A: "digital", I chose digital all day because a creative person's ideas and inspiration happen anywhere, waiting to go where your analog gears are may temper with the inspiration. so it is better to make it while on the go.
- Q: What do you like most about your job?
- A: bringing ideas to life.
- Q: How would you describe your style?
- A: New African contemporary Afro-fusion.
- Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
- A: Afro beat, afro pop, Afro-fusion, Hip hop, and trap.
- Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
- A: Burna Boy, Rema, Wizkid, Asake, Ckay, Omah Lay, Yemi Alade.
