Interview with Indeep Noise
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm producing for myself and others "House Music". My next release is "Indeep Noise - Don´t Stop Moving" exclusively on "TRAXSOURCE" on January 31st and February 14th on all digital platforms including Beatport.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A commission as Ghost Producer.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I pass the word...
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both approaches are necessary. I work in digital and add analog character. Analog adds saturation and harmonics that are essential to achieve a rich, thick sound that is on par with big productions.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: satisfaction
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: All
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: When will you have it finished? I'll answer... Tomorrow, hahaha!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I have a hard time taking that break every 45 minutes, I have to improve!!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the objective, what sound do you want to achieve, who are your references, what is the delivery date, etc.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just like a meal, only choose the best ingredients, so choose quality sounds and samples!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The Neumman HK 120, the Genelec sub, my Imac, my Logic X and my Plugin packs... I include a sixth "my Native instruments keyboard"
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a DJ when I was 16 and was a resident at some of the most important clubs in the capital of Spain. In 1998 I started working in the world of production. I have been self-taught since the beginning, but I realised that I needed training and I have trained myself by taking several courses (including a complete Logic X course and a Master's in Mixing & Mastering).
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern, current, elegant, fresh, improvised...
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: With many! hehe Master At Work, Micky More & Andy Tee, Freemasons, Jocelyn Brown, Kathy Brown.. the list is endless!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Use reference tracks. It's very easy to get lost, if your ear gets used to a sound for hours without having a clear direction, you will get lost. Another extra is "rest every 45 minutes" go outside and rest. Then return to the studio with your "ears reset".
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Well, my specialty is the House and Techno genre (electronic music), but recently I was asked to produce a Spanish sevillana and I didn't turn down the project. It's work! Another of my clients asked me for a soundtrack for a video game like "The Lord of the Rings" and I was there 100%.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Achieve a sound very similar to or even better than the reference tracks that clients send me.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring freshness, originality, I like to improvise.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I listen to music for inspiration, then I start with percussion (bass drum) then I add snare, clap, etc.. then I add a powerful bass. Once it sounds good I start with the melodies, vocals and finally... the effects (FX). For the mix I apply dynamics, limiters, reverb and delay etc...
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Neumann Kh 120 speakers, sub genelec 7040A, Logic pro X, Paquete Plugins Waves, Track Spacer, Classic Compressors, Teclado Native Instrumets, etc...
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Master At Works, Micky More & Andy Tee, Freemasons, etc..
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producción, mezcla y mastering.
