Inspired by early R&B legends of the '80s and '90s, J. Avery grew up knowing his place in life involved music. He has successfully bridged the gap between classic R&B/Soul and today's unorthodox approach to the timeless music genre. Singing, songwriting, and beat composition only name a few of this rising star's capabilities.
J. Avery is an American singer, songwriter and audio engineer born in Abbeville, Alabama. At the early age of four, he was introduced to music and singing all by being born into a family of entertainers.
Beginning his musical journey in church, J. Avery sang in the children’s choir and sang at church functions as a soloist.
Being raised in Alabama and later moving to Brooklyn, NY, J. Avery began learning bits and pieces about talent and performing from his Brooklyn native cousins: A. Roxtar, Jay Elle Music and Lena Soul. Watching their careers flourish over the past few years made him more interested in the industry of music as a whole.
Upon moving to Atlanta, J. Avery’s talent as a songwriter and vocalist has grown tremendously. Not only does he possess the capabilities of an excelling singer/songwriter with an amazing personality, he exudes originality and has that key component which brings back the full emotion and compassion of R&B/Soul that the ears of listeners have been longing to hear.
