Thomas Bonneau on SoundBetter

Professional Sound Designer with 20 years of experience. I create soundtracks for films and artworks.

After graduating from S.A.E. in 2001, I worked for 10 years in advertising sound post-production.
I then specialized in sound design, concentrating on cinema and the art world.
The projects I work on are unique and are carried out in close collaboration with the artists.
A regular at exhibition venues, I also design electronic devices for the unusual needs of artists and their installations.

Thomas is a highly skilled sound designer with a refined, cinematic sensibility and excellent emotional judgment. His work is immersive and precise, with a strong instinct for creating beautiful atmospheres. He listens carefully, communicates clearly, and integrates feedback thoughtfully and efficiently.

If you’re looking for a sound designer who brings depth, clarity, and a film-level approach to sound, Thomas is an excellent collaborator.

Interview with Thomas Bonneau

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: I communicate with the artist or director. I read the brief or the script. I watch or listen, I write, draw, print lists keywords and ideas... I create a mental map of the project and the sound and their paths.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: My studio is at home, it's responsive, everything is always connected. It's a mix between a recording studio and a workshop. I do sound design and mix songs and albums there. Technically, stereo and 5.1, latest version of Protools, there are the necessary plugins for analysis and monitoring for standards, I work with Adam and Genelec speakers.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: I do sound design mostly for films, sometimes without images and sometimes for event spaces. I always strive to have a good understanding and feel for the work. I ask for as much information as possible.
