Interview with Aaron Fitzgerald

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: I do not take for granted the privilege of being a part of any artistic process. The output of this industry has the potential to be some of the most significant parts of people's lives, and to promote a level of quality in music brings me indescribable pride.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: Why was this song written? What kind of finished product do you imagine? What kind of environment makes you feel most creative and productive

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: While I have always had a love for live performance and music theory, my curiosity for recording began at the end of high school. I spent the pandemic lending a hand at a recording studio near home where I built up hundreds of hours of experience before enrolling in the Music Production and Engineering degree at Berklee College of Music. Since then, I have learned from their experienced faculty and top-grade facilities while connecting with and booking for DIY acts in the Boston music scene.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: The current zeitgeist of indie folk and shoegaze coming out of Philadelphia and Asheville has been my forte as of late. However, I also have experience working on a wide range of genres including classic rock, funk, and jazz music.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I have developed an effective workflow that I am able to apply to many larger recording studios. Being hands-in in a live room and crafting a sound with analog gear is how I comfortably work.
