Hey!
I’m Dan, a drummer and recording engineer with a BS in Music Technology from UNC Asheville. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to play with a variety of artists, from singer-songwriters like Frances Eliza and William Hinson to bands like Barefoot Modern and Chuck Mountain, both in the studio and live. I’ve always loved bringing a strong rhythm to a song, and my experience spans across all kinds of musical settings.
Since finishing school, I’ve been focused on growing my skills as both a player and an engineer. I’ve spent time in both professional and home studios, recording and experimenting with different gear to find unique drum sounds. Now, I’ve built my own home studio here in NC, and I’m excited to offer remote drum and percussion tracks for your music!
With over 15 years of drumming experience and a strong background in the technical side of recording, I can deliver high-quality, custom drum parts that fit your sound. Whether you need laid-back grooves or driving beats, I’ve got the gear and knowledge to help bring your vision to life without costing you a fortune! I’d love to be a part of your project and add my piece to your music.

Interview with Dan Harris
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communicate! Most common issues with anything in any field always comes down to lack of communication! If theres something not right about the sounds I'm giving you or a part doesn't feel right please tell me and we'll figure out something else! No feelings will be hurt!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Lots of Singer Songwriter Americana stuff. I also really love funk and have recently started diving into the hiphop, breakbeat sounds!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once we discuss the sound you want and you share all the details, I'll take your stereo track and add drums, cymbals, and any other percussion to match your vision. Then, I'll focus on getting everything to sound great through the microphones and speakers without processing. After recording, I'll send you a stereo bounce for feedback on the part and sound. Once you're happy with it, I'll send you the stems.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Right now I'm working out of my new home studio, with 2 Gen 4 Focusrite 18i20s. A large array of mics, such as Warm audio 47 fet and 47 Tube, SE8 pair, Vanguard V4 and a bunch of the "usual"s as well like SM57s and such. Drum wise I have a beautiful 90s Yamaha Maple Custom and then a Gretsch Catalina Club and then a few different snare options too. As well as a wide variety of cymbals mainly from Zildjian.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lots of love to people like Aaron Sterling, Dan Bailey, Jake Reed, and Blair Sinta specifically on the drummer/recording engineer side. But I also love getting in the nitty gritty watching engineers and mixers like Andrew Scheps and Joe Carrell.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Primarily live work. Playing within a few different bands almost every weekend, and then also each of those bands record drums for them, most of the time remotely.
