Interview with Trent Owen
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: George Pauley is phenomenal.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog for the vibe. Digital for convenience.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping other like-minded artists/musicians achieve their vision.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been a session & touring drummer for 17 years. I sought out gigs near Muscle Shoals, AL and played with anybody who needed a drummer. Saying yes to all of those gigs and being a consistent player created a local buzz around my name. That led to work at the Nutthouse Recording studio which led to work with the Secret Sisters, Siobhan Magnus, Transylvania Stud, Chance McCoy, and other artists in North Alabama and Nashville, TN.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would have loved to work with Elvis during the concert years between 1969-1973. He’s the greatest artist/singer of all time to me.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, but I am well-versed in all genres of music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Bringing artists’ visions to life while playing for the song.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Elvis, Ron Tutt, Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Eric Valentine, Jonny Greenwood, Deantoni Parks, Ethan Johns, Josh Homme, Butch Vig, Joe Baressi, Jon Theodore, & more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I track live drums for various songs, singles, EPs, and full records.
