Producer, Mixing and Mastering Engineer. Find a pro-quality production, mixing, and mastering tailored to Indie, Pop, and Rock music.
I’m Santiago Capell, a music producer and sound engineer specializing in Indie, Pop, and Rock. My goal is to bring your artistic vision to life and make your songs sound polished and professional. I take a collaborative approach, making sure every detail reflects your unique style and meets your expectations.
I hold a degree as a Superior Technician in Sound from La Metro, an audiovisual communication school in Córdoba, Argentina, where I’m based. My education has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality, industry-standard work.
Currently, I’m developing my career by producing, mixing, and mastering for Lavanda Ámbar, an indie-pop band from Argentina. Our first project together, mixing and mastering their single "Me Voy," has already been released. We’re now working on their upcoming EP, which is set to debut in late 2025.
If we work together, I’ll take the time to fully understand your ideas and reference tracks to achieve the sound you’re envisioning for your music.

Interview with Santiago Capell
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One work I'm proud of is the one we did with Lavanda Ambar for my final year project. It's a five-song EP in which I participated in the entire production process, along with two colleagues with whom we shared the work. It's not out yet, but there will be news in the coming weeks.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on mixing and mastering an indie-folk-rock EP.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No, I don't know anyone on Soundbetter yet.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I am currently working with digital processes, although I would like the analog and digital worlds to coexist and feed off each other.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I can't promise anything other than to listen to what you're looking for and find a way to get there, with patience and dedication.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I love about my job is that each project is a different world, full of challenges and obstacles to overcome, with different objectives and paths to achieve them.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: There are often questions about the volume level of songs and how competitive they are on playlists. My answer is that, personally, I prioritize getting the sound right over achieving volume. Yes, although if the artist wants to sound loud, I understand and can do it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It's often thought that our job is the most important part of the entire creative process, but I believe that what makes something sound good is a good, well-executed song. My job is to accompany and emphasize that process.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask my clients what they're trying to convey with this song and what they think I can contribute to it. I also ask them to send me music they like and music that inspires them.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice would be to look for someone you feel comfortable working with, someone you can communicate with fluently and who understands what you are looking for.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I'd bring my laptop, my Beyerdynamic DT990Pro headphones, my SSL 2, an electric guitar, and a bass. I could make a living making music with that.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been working on this since 2019, with my personal musical project. Then, in 2022, I enrolled in the Advanced Sound Technician program at La Metro in Córdoba, Argentina. There, I began working on my final project with the band "Lavanda Ambar," which was my first experience with other people's music, which led to my degree earlier this year.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is to embrace classic ideas of music production along with fresh and modern ideas.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: At the moment, I like to work with emerging bands with whom we can grow together on this path.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I like to think of music in layers: A solid foundation built from drums, percussion, bass, and the instruments that form the core of the song. Then, the harmonic layer — guitars, pads, and textures that add depth and color. Finally, the lead layer, carried by the vocals or any instrument that delivers the main melody. The key is finding the right balance between these layers so everything moves together in a natural groove.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work on indie-rock music, but I’m always open to exploring any genre.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My biggest strength is identifying clear sonic references and walking that creative path alongside the artist to bring their vision to life.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My goal is to use my tools to highlight the message and emotion of the song, while staying true to today’s industry standards.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For me, communication with the artist is the most important part of the process. It’s essential to understand the sound they’re aiming for so I can approach the project in the right way. From there, I move into editing, mixing, and mastering — always keeping in touch with the artist and making any necessary revisions along the way
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my home studio, I use Adam T5V monitors and Beyerdynamic DT990Pro headphones for monitoring. I work with Pro Tools 2021. I don't currently have analog equipment, but I do use the best brands of plugins, which I use to achieve professional sound at a lower cost.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My inspiration is the sound of alternative rock from the 90s and 00s. Artists like David Bowie, Radiohead, and The Flaming Lips inspire me to reach that level.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and mastering for indie, rock and pop songs. Clear sound and industry volume level.
