Sam McCarthy is an accomplished mixing engineer who has worked with Grammy Winning artists and engineers such as Dave Darlington, Neal Smith, Jim Eno, and Andrew Oedell. Sam specializes in Jazz music bringing years of listening and playing experiences into all of his mix's.
Sam McCarthy is a Professional Drummer, Recording Engineer, and Mix Engineer based out of New York City.
Hailing from Kingston, Rhode Island, and having studied from jazz greats such as Neal Smith, Billy Kilson, Franciso Mela, and Kris Davis Sam has developed his own unique style and approach to the drums. As a young performer and up and coming musician, Sam has performed for audiences throughout the U.S. and Europe and with artists such as Nick Mycio, Matt Heilmann, Anthony Golden, and Rico Jones. He has also performed at the Newport Jazz Festival as well as Wally’s Jazz Cafe and Club in Boston and 38Riv, in Paris, France. Drawing upon many stylistic influences from Jazz, Classical, RnB, Rock, and Hip Hop, Sam melds these different styles into his own playing. Sam integrates a unique style where rhythmic expansion and musical support are key.
Sam currently lives in New York City where he is pursuing his own growth and musicality behind the drum set.
As a Recording and Mixing Engineer, Sam has established himself in the New England Recording Scene. Sam has worked with Dave Darlington a Grammy Winning Mix Engineer as well as Andrew Oedel, a Grammy Nominated Mixing and Recording Engineer and Jim Eno a Grammy Winning Drummer and Recording Engineer. Sam has also worked with Artists such as Juan Saus, James Zito, Liam Ellion, and Neal Smith.
